My word is FREEDOM…What’s yours? (Plus a free invitation for YOU.)

It feels like forever since my last post and that’s because I’ve been on vacation and piecing together my next steps.  The good news is I am back and I have a lot of GREAT things up my sleeve for you.  But, before I share all of that with you (soon I promise), I want to share some of my most recent realizations.

All this traveling I’ve been able to do this year so far, I realized I have had a theme bubbling up my entire life and it is exactly the kind of life I want to create.

That theme is FREEDOM.

Many (many) moons ago, I wouldn’t have known what it was because I was dealing with so much turmoil and strife, but today I can honestly look at my life as a whole and say what I truly desire is freedom in ALL forms.

I want to experience freedom in love (thank you SCOTUS for making that possible in all 50 states in the US finally).

I want to experience freedom in my finances (thank you Denise Duffield-Thomas for helping me clear my blocks to be open to more abundance.)

I want to experience freedom in my time and how I choose to spend my time on a daily basis (thanks boss-aka me!).

And I am finally embracing the fact that I want to experience freedom in what I create and share with YOU.

You see over the years, I’ve tried to make all of my desires fit nicely into little square boxes even though the contents were hanging out in odd (and fun) shapes and sizes.  I realized this weekend that the only thing clean, tidy, square boxes are good for are moving- you know when you have to pack a moving truck and feel like you are playing Tetris to make everything fit.

I don’t fit into one clean and tidy box and I bet you don’t either.

I’m a bit messy and oddly-shaped at times, but it’s what makes me unique.  What I desire today may change form in a few months, but that’s the true beauty of evolution and growth isn’t it?

Your desires, wishes, and dreams are as diverse as your experiences in this life and I want you to know it’s OKAY to have all those (sometimes conflicting) desires because in the end it’s all a part of YOU.

You will at times drop the things that are no longer serving you.  You will de-clutter your dreams, desires, and wishes and peel back the layers to reveal what is really important to you right here and right now.  And despite what gets left on the editing room floor, life will feel amazing for you because in the end YOU get to choose what stays and what goes.

My biggest realization over the last 2 weeks is the freedom that I not only desire and am now totally embracing, but also the freedom I help my clients attain.

And let’s be clear, freedom means something different to everyone.  For me it might be about time and money and for someone else it might be entirely about their career.  But, what I want YOU (and every other woman walking this planet) to know is that YOU have the FREEDOM to choose the life you live.  You have the FREEDOM to break free from whatever has you stuck and to choose differently.  But most of all you have the FREEDOM to decide the kind of life you live and experience while you are in this blessed body of yours.

And I want to help you get to that FREEDOM, whatever it means to you because I know that you have an amazing life to live and it’s time to make your dreams come alive starting NOW.

The Facebook Tribe I created a few months ago is under construction and with it comes a new name (TBA) and lots of awesome tools, tips, and challenges to help empower YOU to live that amazing life you want…right now.  And instead of waiting for all the new pieces to be in place, I’m inviting you to join us today, before everything is perfect and the new name is revealed.

P.S. I have a super fun and life-changing challenge coming up soon for people in the group only so make sure you join!

(Case Study) How Carrie is Creating the Life of Her Dreams

February 10, 2015 by Lamisha

A note from Lamisha: Today I am beyond honored to share a post from one of my beautiful clients.  Carrie has an incredible story to share and I am so happy she has allowed me to share it with you.  Read. Enjoy. And reflect on how you too can create the life of your dreams, even if it means you have to do something that scares you.

“Oh shit, what am I going to do now?” That’s exactly what I said about 30 seconds after I quit my job. Actually it was probably closer to 30 minutes after I quit my job. That first half hour I was too giddy and shocked to have any particularly well formed thought.

Once the relative high of making a life altering decision started to dissipate and reality began to rear its scary head I began to process the huge leap I had just dared to take.

And that’s when I said it: Oh shit oh shit ohshitohshit what did I just do?

After the immediate post-quitting freak-out ebbed and I was well into the journey of “figuring it out”, I continued to pepper my inner dialogues and daily conversations with, you guessed it, “oh shit”.

It took me a long time to finally quit my job. Days, weeks, months of vacillating between “I can’t believe the crap I have to deal with every day, I should just quit” and “I love the work I do and the people I work with and I’ll never find another good job so I can’t just quit” kept me frozen in place. The mere thought of quitting my job without another lined up made me hyperventilate with panic because I’m a control freak and generally need to know what I’m doing and when I’m doing it.

I’m one of those folks who thinks spontaneity has it’s place and time. So when I did quit my job, when I finally realized that the reason I was breaking down physically and mentally was due to the stress of my daily work life, I panicked. Suddenly having no job, no income, no benefits, no schedule, no reason to get up in the morning felt like the rug really had been pulled out from under my feet. And I was the one who did the pulling!!

Along with feeling panicked I felt guilty: guilty that I wasn’t doing what I should be doing. Yes, I was ‘should-ing’ all over myself every day. How dare I shirk my responsibilities? What right do I have to take time for self care and self-reflection?

I come from a family of extremely successful overachievers. My brothers are both doctors with thriving practices who work their butts off every day and here I am, the screw up sister who decided to ditch her job and lounge around doing nothing while spending her savings to pay the bills. The responsible me was frantically insisting I look for a job, any job, right now.

Fortunately there was an inner voice, the nurturing me, very small but very persistent, that managed to be heard over the cacophony of responsible thoughts. That voice was telling me it was time to stop the self-destructive cycle and make a change. After a great deal of protest and inner toil, I finally listened.

And so began my (still ongoing) journey to self discovery. Fortunately, I realized a couple of really important things relatively early on.

First, it takes time. I’ll say it again. IT. TAKES. TIME.

It took a long time for me to realize that I actually needed to stop for a while and give myself the chance to heal, to nourish my body and soul and bring myself back up to great health and emotional wellbeing. If I didn’t give myself the oxygen mask, I wouldn’t have the capacity to do the work required to move forward.

You’ve probably heard this a million times but I think it’s a concept that can’t be stressed enough. I allowed myself the time for self care; yoga, meditation, sleep, sitting on the couch and reading a good book, having lunch with a friend, spending time with my family, knitting, whatever it was that made me feel whole. To be sure, it wasn’t easy to be so generous and gentle with myself; that guilty voice was whispering, sometimes shrieking, in my head most days but I managed to keep my health in mind and shove it aside.

During this time I started working with Lamisha, my spirit guide/cheerleader/teacher/coach extraordinaire. In one of my many emails to her I described all that I was doing during this time of renewal as “pulling back the rubber band”.

I was working on my health and wellbeing, yes, but I was also thinking a lot about what I might want to do going forward. I wrote down ideas, no matter how far fetched, I dreamed and fantasized and talked to friends about my ideas to give them life. I researched Meetups and other groups in areas of interest, I spent time in places I loved like my favorite knitting store to find joy and inspiration. I perused beautiful magazines, crafting websites and blogs because looking at beautiful handmade things makes me deliriously happy. I gave myself a set period of time in which to nurture body, mind and soul and at the end of that time I felt ready to let that rubber band fly.

And this brings me to point number 2, Trust.

Trust the process. Bullshit, right? Believe me, when I tell you I had a very hard time refraining from poking my incredibly loving and supportive boyfriend right in the eye when he uttered those words to me. But it’s true and the only way you’ll see for yourself is to, well, trust the process.

When you’re smack in the middle of the process, you can’t see your progress. You have no perspective which is why it’s imperative to check in with people who really know you, who you, um, trust, to give you feedback as you make your way down your path.

It’s been a huge challenge to trust that the energy I’m putting into this big, huge, amazing journey will eventually produce results, open doors, provide opportunities. When I first started reaching out to people for input, advice, potential work, a favor, I eagerly awaited a reply and would find myself losing a bit of confidence as each day passed with no response. I sometimes felt downright dejected (and rejected).

Eventually, most people did respond in one way or another which taught me a critical lesson. Everyone has their own lives, schedules and priorities. The agenda that firmly occupies my front burner every day is most likely sitting on or close to their back burner so now I release the slingshot and then sit tight. I don’t write someone off if they don’t respond in a day, a week, even a month. My communication may land in someone’s inbox or voicemail the day their car died or they’re working on an all-consuming project at work. Or maybe my message will only become relevant to them in a few months when a change–a job opening, a new idea– prompts them to give me a call.

I still don’t know exactly where I’ll land next but here’s the difference between now and when I made the leap a few months ago; I’m a happier, healthier person than I’ve been in ages. I no longer question my decision to quit (no more “oh shit”) and, instead, embrace the journey.

I have days of great progress and excitement and days of disappointment and fear and know that this is normal and part of the process. I reach out to friends and family for help when I need it. I do what makes me feel good and enjoy each new adventure this brings. This journey is, by no means, easy. It’s messy and scary and sometimes I want to throw in the towel and just get a job doing what I was doing before.

But the journey is also inspiring, and enlightening and has taught me about myself beyond measure. So I persist. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Walking My Talk & Investing in Me

November 11, 2014 by Lamisha

A few weeks back I wrote this post about the importance of investing in yourself.  I felt a fire in my belly as I wrote it because I do believe we each deserve to invest the time, effort, and money into who we want to be.  Whether we are treating ourselves to a nice hair cut or coffee or hiring a personal coach to help us get to our goals, we deserve it.  And what I was getting at in that post was that far too many people don’t see the value in doing those things.

Looking back at it now I found, I was one of them.

Even as I wrote the post, I could feel the resistance building within about a particular investment that I knew I needed to make, but was deeply afraid of.  I could feel myself splitting hairs because while I am more likely to treat myself to nice things and invest time into myself, investing large sums of money into my own personal growth hadn’t happened.

So what wasn’t I doing that I knew I needed to do?

I wasn’t hiring the coach I knew I needed.

Here I was a life coach who was asking the amazing women that needed me most to invest in themselves by working with me and I wasn’t willing to do the same thing.

Sure, I had a ton of excuses as to why I couldn’t do it.

  • I don’t have the money.
  • I don’t have the time.
  • Is that what I really need right now?

But what I was really afraid of was this:

I wasn’t 100% sure the coaching would work for me.

Yep, even as a coach that works with clients daily on mindset stuff, I was dealing with my own gremlins.

I was afraid that it wouldn’t work for me. That my business was somehow different from all the success stories I had heard from other women who had worked with this particular coach.  I let fear win.

But then…

A few weeks after I wrote that post about investing in yourself, I felt this intuitive pull to hire an EFT practitioner to help me through some of the gremlins I was working through.  I didn’t think twice, I just signed up and took the leap.  And I have to tell you it was one of the best things I have done for myself AND my business in a long time.

But I didn’t stop there, I also invested in some additional training for social media work I desperately needed.  (cha-ching)

And that wasn’t it either.  A week after investing in that, I invested in the coach I needed to hire to begin with.  She had an offer I couldn’t refuse and to be honest, my intuition was telling me this was something I needed.  Not just for my business and personal growth, but also because it was way past time for me to walk my talk.

In the last month or so of investing in myself and my business, I learned that my fears were unfounded.  After my first investment in the EFT session, I saw immediate results in my business.  I had new clients coming out of the woodwork and was amazed at it all.  After the second investment, more amazing things were happening. More inspiration, clients, and opportunities were flowing and after investing in my coach…well the same thing happened.

It boils down to this.  When you decide to invest time, money, and energy into yourself, the Universe begins to take you more seriously and miraculous things start happening.

So, my dear dreamer…when was the last time you took the leap and invested the $$ into yourself, your dreams, and your goals?

I know it’s scary. I know you wonder if it will work for you.  You wonder if it’s the ‘right’ step for you and I assure you, if you are thinking of hiring a coach, it IS the right step for you.  Listen to your intuition and follow the tug of your heart. Now is your time to shine an I want to help you in any way that I can.

I am only taking 4 more clients for my 90-Day Breakthrough program for 2014, so if you have been thinking about taking the leap, now is your chance.  I’m scheduling 30-Minute Consultations for the rest of the month to fill these spots so if you are interested, schedule yours fast.

Investing in YOU

Do you know the difference between the people living the dream and those stuck just dreaming?

It boils down to one word: Investment

The people living the life of their dreams made a choice to invest in themselves.

The people that are stuck in dreamland didn’t.

It’s that simple.

Whether it is time, money, or energy, investing in yourself is a MUST if you are going to get from where you are to where you want to be.

So, when was the last time you invested in yourself?

Hmm…that long huh?

How’s that worked out for you?  Are you living the dream or stuck in dreamland?

There are probably 100 excuses you can give me this very second as to why you haven’t invested in yourself.  Maybe you think you don’t have the money, the time, or the energy to invest.  Maybe you have children, a family, commitments, a day job etc. that you think restrict your resources and you just aren’t sure how you can fit something else in.

I know better.  Those are just the excuses.

The truth is when you want something bad enough and you are ready to take the leap, you will find a way to make it happen.

You will carve out the time, hustle up the money, and you will be so inspired by the life you are living, energy won’t be a problem.

But it also comes down to value.

How much do you value YOU and what life can be for you?

Living the life of your dreams is possible as long as you don’t settle.

Close your eyes and imagine what you truly want out of life.  Not what you think you can get or what you think is possible. What do you want?

What’s the first step you can take to invest in YOU?

Not sure?

Start by investing your time in a 30-minute consultation to chat about your vision and how I can help you make it a reality because you ARE worth it.

Investing in Yourself

April 4, 2014 by Lamisha

invest

Another theme I keep coming across in my own life and the lives of my clients is self-care.  More specifically how difficult it is to invest the time, money, and space to really support ourselves in the way we need.

Is self-care a pain point for you?

Do you often find yourself overly exhausted, worried, frustrated, or saying ‘yes’ to everyone else but yourself?

It’s time to stop all that nonsense and begin investing in yourself.

I know there are a million reasons not to do it and to be honest, the ones I hear the most comes down to money and time.

We all have money stuff.  We either believe there isn’t enough or what we have is all we will ever make, but that’s not true.  There is plenty to go around and investing in yourself is one of the best ways to bring more into your life.  Sounds a bit backwards I know, but when you are stressed, frustrated, angry, and living in a mindset of lack, do you find you are met with even more lack?  It’s likely you are.  But, what if you took some time for yourself to relax a bit.  Get a massage, treat yourself to a manicure, purchase a course that can change your life, or hire a coach to help you reach the next level of your dreams?  Wouldn’t that feel good?

At first the thought of spending money on things that aren’t ‘needs’ can scare the pants off some people and create anxiety especially if money seems to be a bit tighter than usual.  And while I am not a ‘money coach’ per se, I do a lot of work with my clients on their money stuff because it’s a part of the beliefs and blocks that hold us back.  Our relationship with money can be quite stressed depending on how we grew up, what we were taught, and the messages we heard and in turn believed about it.  The same goes for spending money on seemingly frivolous things.

The truth is that investing in yourself is not frivolous or irresponsible.  It is a necessary part of self-care and life in general.  We aren’t here to simply survive and live paycheck to paycheck or to scrimp and save every penny we have.  We are supposed to enjoy life, feel good, and take care of ourselves, but I often find some people just aren’t ready to take the leap.  If that is you, then I invite you to start small.

Treat yourself to coffee every once in a while if that is your thing.  Or go buy a good book that you have been dying to read and know that it’s OK to invest in yourself.  And should you find yourself wondering about hiring a coach or enrolling in a course that is calling to you, do it!

There are always reasons not to invest in yourself and your dreams.  Money is tight, the car might need fixing, the kids college fund needs to be bigger, or you just don’t believe it will make a difference, but I assure you that you will be better off if and when you do.

I am not asking you to dump your responsibilities and quit your job to invest in yourself, but I am asking you to get in touch with what you really want and need right now and allow your intuition to guide you.  I believe wholeheartedly in the powers of the Universe guiding us to the people, articles, books, quotes, tools etc. that we need in the moment so you being here is not a fluke. Listen with your heart and get busy enjoying this amazing gift we have called life!

You know what’s funny?  I get many of the same complaints and excuses when it comes to the time factor too.  There seems to never be enough time to invest in yourself, but the truth is you just haven’t made it a priority.  I invite you to make yourself, your self-care, your growth, and your dreams a priority.  The world needs to see your light shine and you deserve to live a life of excitement, abundance, and joy.

So I ask you, what can you do right now to invest in yourself?

If you have thought about working with a coach and haven’t taken the leap just yet, I would love to chat with you.  I am taking on new clients for April and I want to hear about your dreams and goals.  If I am not a good fit for you, I will help you find a coach that works for you.  I want you to get what you need to make your dreams come alive, it’s as simple as that.  Let’s schedule a 30-minute consultation to chat about what I do and what you want to achieve.  Simple, free, and totally worth the time.  Contact me today to get your consultation scheduled.  I look forward to chatting with you!
