Hello 2015: I’m Ready!

January 6, 2015 by Lamisha

Hey Gorgeous,

How’s 2015 treating you so far?  Are you ready for this to be your best year yet?

I know I am.

Typically around this time of year, I am hitting the ground running on my planning, dreaming, and scheming for the year ahead.  I grab my Leonie workbook and light some candles and get busy filling in all the details of 2014 and do a big release of everything that no longer serves me mentally and physically.

This year was a bit different.  When the holidays rolled around, I was literally ill.  My entire family got sick around the same time and it’s taken me a few weeks to get back to my normal, healthy self.

Thankfully, I’m on the mend and was able to get busy on some super exciting things coming up that I will share with you soon. (I know, I know secrets, secrets are no fun, but this one is worth the wait!)

So, since I didn’t get a chance to say a big goodbye to 2014 and hit the ground running right out of the gate in 2015, I’m playing catch up.

And I’m ok with it.

In fact, it seems that while this year is going to be about massive action, risk taking, and dreaming (and living) in a big way, I am easing into the year.  Not only do I not make resolutions, but I am taking a bit more time to dream, set my intentions, and get clear on what 2015 means to me.

In years past, I’ve written a letter to my future self, created a vision board, and even set my theme for the year all before the new year even began.  This year, I’m doing things a little differently.

I’ve picked my themes for the year and they are: Going Pro (for my business of course) and to Live Big (in my personal life).  The underlying theme for both is to have FUN.

What’s life without a bit of fun, dreaming, and enjoying the ride right?  Have you set your theme for the new year?  Done some intention setting for what you want to manifest in the year ahead?  It almost feels like a beautiful blank sheet of paper that is so perfect, you almost don’t want to paint on it, but where’s the fun in that?

I want to hear about your BIG, BOLD, Dreams for 2015.  What are they?  Share in the comments below and let us support you and add fuel to the flame as we all get into action for our dreams to come to fruition.

In the meantime, if you are interested in taking your dreams to another level by hiring a coach, let’s schedule a free 30-minute consultation to chat about your vision and what you want to create for 2015.  It’s your time to shine! So, let’s get busy!

2014: Theme of the Year

December 31, 2013 by Lamisha

Moving along with my end of year planning posts, I wanted to share a bit with you about my theme of this coming year.  If you have been following me for a while now, then you may remember last year my theme for 2013 was to “Be Open”.  I wanted to simply allow myself to be open to the possibilities, opportunities, and ideas that came about for 2013.  I can honestly say that those words were perfect for this year and they led me to create my coaching business from the ground up.

So, as we move into 2014, I had a bit of trouble figuring out what my theme would be.  I had a lot of ideas that came to mind, but none of them really felt just right.  Some of the words that came to mind were “Service” and “Beginnings”, but neither really made my souls say “YES”!

When I allowed myself the space to let the words just come to me, I came up with the perfect theme…Show Up.

What does that mean?tama

It means that no matter what this year, I am making a commitment to myself to show up to the opportunities and changes that I am making even if they scare me.  The inspiration came from a book by Tama Kieves called Inspired & Unstoppable where she reminds lovely creative souls to show up to their work, their craft, and their calling no matter what.  Her words touched my heart and really resonated with me and when the words came to me, I knew they were perfect for 2014.

In a few days of putting this theme to practice, I  have learned that the simple act of “showing up” creates the space for inspiration to occur.  For example when I am intimidated by the blank page, if I commit to just sitting down, then something always comes out.

Simply put, regardless of the insecurities, fear, uncertainty, doubt, and any other reason that might cause me to procrastinate on something that is important to me, I commit to showing up.

I have learned that nine times out of ten the fear and worry are unwarranted and the simple act of showing up allows me to continue to grow and evolve as an individual and as a coach.

Have you thought about setting a theme or a word for the New Year?  If you haven’t ever tried it before, I encourage you to give it a try.  Think about it, write it down, and revisit it throughout the year.  You might be surprised at how your year progresses when using this simple practice.

There are a lot of other bloggers and coaches using this same practice if you want to check them out before you decide on your own word.  Check out Tiffany Han‘s word of the year to see why she chose the word she did.  If you decide you want to choose one of your own, I would love to hear it.  Share in the comments below!

Meditation Challenge Update

January 11, 2013 by Lamisha

For those of you who don’t know, I have recently taken on the challenge of meditating everyday for 100 days.  I have never been good at meditating everyday even though I am well aware of the benefits it can have on mental health, energy, and overall well-being.  And to be honest with you when I accepted the challenge, there was a part of me that wondered if I would be able to fit it in each day.  But here we are on day 10 and I have meditated everyday of January so far.  That in and of itself is an exciting thing for me.

With that said I thought I would share a bit of my experience thus far.  The first few days were a bit hectic as I didn’t have a set time to meditate, nor did I do it  in the same place, or by using the same method for that matter.  Needless to say I was inconsistent and the quality of each experience wasn’t all that great.  My mind wandered far more that I liked and I didn’t feel as focused or calm as I am used to feeling after a good meditation.  So I figured I would streamline my practice a bit more while still having some flexibility, so I can still flow with whatever life throws at me.

Here’s what I do:

  • I turn on some quiet meditation music
  • Sit in a comfortable position either in a chair or on the floor
  • Close my eyes
  • And breathe

Sounds simple huh?  It is…sort of.  Getting into meditation and clearing my head of all the noise is the most difficult thing for me to do, but as my mind wanders and begins thinking about what I will be doing in the next few hours, I try to focus on the music, or tune into specific areas in my body bringing my awareness back to myself and not my thoughts.  Sometimes I am very successful, sometimes not so much, however I keep going.  At this time I don’t have a specific amount of time that I sit in meditation, but I have reached a max of 15 minutes with hopes of getting it up to 30 by the end of the challenge.

So how do I feel so far?

the results of just 10 inconsistent days of meditation have been incredible.

Here’s what I have experienced:

  • Better mood overall
  • A sense of peace and relaxation afterwards
  • More focus
  • Anticipation for my next meditation
  • Less worry, more faith that things are going to work out in all areas of life
  • A deeper connection to my intuition and dreams

Another thing I am experiencing (though I am not sure if it is a result of my meditation practice, or if it relates to my theme of the year) is an increase in opportunities that seem to fall into my lap, as well as an overwhelming amount of confidence on my part to take on projects that in the past would have overwhelmed me.  Maybe my meditation practice is supporting me as I go with the flow of life and if that is the case then I look forward to what lies ahead while still remaining in this moment as completely as I can.

So that is where I am at after 10 days.  Look for the next update on day 30!

End of Year Tradition: Theme of the Year

December 30, 2012 by Lamisha

20121228-231432.jpg
Vision of being open.

I have heard of many people using different methods to reflect on the past year as well as make plans for the new year and as I continue to flow with life and make plans for future, I have decided to set a theme for 2013.  I thought it would be a good way to set a specific focus for the year ahead and as I move through each day of 2013 if need be, I can look back at this post and remind myself of my intention and focus for 2013.

With that being said my theme for 2013 is: Be Open.  I want to be open to whatever opportunities, challenges, and changes that may present themselves in 2013 and to take those things in stride.  Instead of fighting the current and resisting ‘what is’, I want to be open to the lessons I may learn and the growing that may come from the changes and challenges in the coming year.

That is not to say that I am going to just let life happen to me in 2013.  In fact my plan is quite the opposite.  I am setting goals and intentions for the coming year, but instead of asserting my “control” over what I think should happen, I am going to flow with what actually happens and be open to it all.  This is a huge change for me as I often find myself disappointed that things don’t go exactly as planned.  So, while I am not flying completely blind with no plan in 2013, I will simply be open to whatever changes may come.  My hope is that in my effort to let go a bit more and flow with all that life entails, I will continue to find peace in every situation no matter what it is.

I would love to hear from you. What would you say your theme is for 2013?
