Every Friday night in our household is Family Movie Night.

My son gets so excited to run up and grab one of his favorite movies so we can all snuggle up with a big bowl of popcorn and enjoy our end of the week treat.

And every single time we do this, I come away from the movie in utter amazement at the messages I receive and the reminders about how life really works.

So much so, that I have been inspired (time and again) to write a post about the specific messages because they are SO amazingly true.

Now, most of the movies we watch are kid’s movies, but I am always astounded by the wisdom that is sprinkled throughout and I hope that they ring true to you as much as they did for me.

Movie:  The Croods:

Quote: (Dad)”Those rules. They kept us ALIVE.” (Daughter) “That wasn’t LIVING…That was just NOT dying!”

The Universal message: Fear doesn’t just keep you ‘alive’, it also keeps you from truly living.

Food for thought: What have you allowed fear to keep you from truly living?

Movie:  Meet the Robinsons:

Quote: “Keep moving forward!”

The Universal message:  You are never done with living life.  With whatever mistakes, mishaps or perceived snafus that happen, keep moving forward is all you need to do and it always works out.

Food for thought:  Where do you need to keep moving forward?

Movie: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Quote: “There’s plenty of money out there. They print more every day. But this ticket— There are only five of them in the whole world, and that’s all there’s ever going to be. Only a dummy would give this up for something as common as money.”

The Universal message:  There is MORE than enough money to go around.  The only thing keep us from it is the thought that there is a limited supply.  It is printed every single day and when you focus on the ‘golden ticket’ moments of life, money flows effortlessly.

Food for thought:  Where are you seeing lack in your life and ignoring the ‘golden ticket’ moments of life? Isn’t it time for a change?

Movie:  Frozen

Quote: “Let it go!!!”

The Universal message:  Let go of the fear, the worry that you are too powerful and the way others think and feel about you.  The only thing that matters is LOVE.  Let the rest go. Oh, and when you are feeling like life is challenging or you know-you freeze an entire city, just let it go and have fun.  The rest will work itself out.

Food for thought:  What do you need to let go of right now?

Movie: Lego Movie

Quote: “Everything is AWESOME!!!”

The Universal message:  YES everything IS awesome when you choose to see it that way! And it’s even better when you give yourself permission to live your dream.

Food for thought:  How can you choose to see the awesome in life, because everything is indeed awesome.

Movie: Big Hero 6

Quote: “I’m not giving up on you. You don’t understand this yet, but people need you. So let’s get back to work.”

The Universal message: Don’t give up.  The world needs you and the Universe isn’t giving up on you or the brilliance you bring to the world.  Keep. Going.

Food for thought:  Where do you need to try again?

Movie: The Muppets

Quote: ” Life’s a happy song….I got everything that I need, right in front of me.  Nothing’s stopping me, Nothing I can’t be with you right her next to me.” ( I could keep going but you get the idea.)

The Universal message:  Life is amazing.  Always. And when you focus on the things right in front of you and experience the beauty that is surrounding you, it just gets better and better.  You have everything you need…and then some.

Food for thought:  What are you focusing on right now? On the beauty, joy, and love of life or something else?

Messages come in a variety of forms and they may mean something different to you.  What messages have you experienced or received recently?

5 Things You Need To Create A Life You LOVE

April 17, 2015 by Lamisha

lifeofdreams

Everyone wants a life they love right?

But, how many are actually willing to do the work that is required to make that life a reality?

Far too many people are sitting on the sidelines, wishing, waiting, and wondering when their time will come.

If you are one of those people-today is your day, but you have to be willing to do just a few things to create a life you love.

Below are 5 things you absolutely need to do to create a life you love.

  • Get honest with yourself.  Take an honest inventory of your current life and look at what is working really well and what isn’t.  Don’t just pigeon hole yourself into one area of your life.  Look at everything.  See how well your self-care is doing, your health, relationships, career, family life, hobbies, etc.  How are your finances? How are you feeling most of the time?  Take an honest look at it all and figure out where you want to make improvements that will make you FEEL better.  How you feel is the key to this inventory and make sure you don’t ignore what IS working.  That is incredibly important as we always need to see that there are things that are working in our lives.

  • Learn to say ‘no’.  As women this can be a difficult one.  We are naturally service-oriented and want to help, nurture, and care for others, many times leaving whatever is left for ourselves.  We will make sacrifices to no end and happily put others before ourselves even if that means we are doing things we really don’t want to do. Learning to say no is imperative to making sure you are focusing on things that light you up and keep your cup full.  If your cup isn’t full, you have nothing left to give anyone else.

  • Start small.  As they say: Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither is your dream life.  Don’t start making big swooping changes in every area of your life as it can be quite jarring and can create a ton of anxiety and overwhelm.  Start small with implementing more of what you truly love and enjoy.  Remember to focus on the things that make you feel good.  The more you do that, the easier the transition and changes will be.  As a side note if you were going to start anywhere first, I’d start with your mindset because your mindset is EVERYTHING.

  • Dare to take risks.  Once we reach a certain age, we tend to get comfortable with our lives even if they aren’t exactly how we want them to be.  We allow our comfort zone to become like a cocoon wrapping over us and keeping us safe from harm and disappointment.  But, all those things you desire for your dream life are right outside your cocoon.  You can’t get to them when you are all wrapped up.  You have to be willing to break free from your comfort zone and take risks every now and then.  Start now, write down 3 things that are a bit scary that will take you out of your comfort zone and will help create a life you love.

  • Take action.  This one seems a bit obvious, but there are so many women out there who know exactly what they need to do, but they aren’t.  Maybe it’s fear, worry, anxiety, or just plain procrastination that keeps them paralyzed, but they just aren’t moving in the direction they know they want to go.  It isn’t until we work together and they have the accountability and push that they really begin moving forward.  If you are one of these people, stop stalling and get busy!  Take action now.  Your dream life depends on it.

So there you have it.  5 things you need to do in order to create a life you love.  Which will you start with this weekend?

If you are looking for some support during this process to help you stay in action or to take the risks you need to move you forward, I’d love to chat with you more about it.  I have a few spots open in the coming weeks for you to schedule a FREE 30-Minute Consultation. Simply click the button below to get signed up.

The Microscope Effect

March 6, 2015 by Lamisha

Over the last few years, I have gotten to know this thing I call the Microscope Effect very well and the more I work with women like myself, I realize it’s not just something I am dealing with.  We all deal with it.

Let me explain.

Have you ever had those moments when you it feels like the world is opening up and swallowing you whole?  You are stressed out, fed up, and frustrated with how things are going and are unable to see the bigger picture?

You’ve zoomed in your focus to a point where all you see is the very thing that is driving you crazy and for a moment (or many) you think your life is made up of that small area that isn’t working out.

The Microscope Effect is something we all deal with on varying scales.

I’ve dealt with it in my business, my money mindset, and even my marriage.

The thing that’s broken (or seemingly broken) gets all the attention because we are natural fixers.

We aim our attention at the thing that needs to be fixed because we are used to it.  But, the problem is when we do that too much, we flit from one broken moment to the next ‘fixing’ it and if we aren’t careful we assume our entire lives are made up of broken pieces.

That’s not the case at all.

Despite what area of your life might need a bit of oil to run smoothly, it isn’t likely that it is all broken and in need of repair.

Are there moments when it seems one thing after another needs your attention? Absolutely, but the key is not to get caught up in all that and  instead focus on the stuff that IS working.

Today, I challenge you to look around at the beauty and the whole pieces of your life, no matter how small.  Zoom out your microscope so you can see the bigger picture, because if you’ve ever looked at an image really close up, it doesn’t do it justice.

Our lives are made up of many moving parts and one of the keys to living a life you love is starting where you are.  It’s not all bad, so don’t let the fixer in you convince you that it is.  Once you see the beauty around you, the pieces that need fixing don’t look quite as bad and if they are…well, you will be in a much better place to fix them.

Are you dealing with the Microscope Effect?

This is your sign…

February 26, 2015 by Lamisha

This week I shared something with my VIP list (which you can sign up for to receive my free video series: 7 Secrets to Manifest the Life of Your Dreams) that I am also sharing with you because I have a feeling there are a few of you that really need to read it.

If you are looking for a sign, this is it.

****

18 months ago, I took the biggest leap of my entire life…into the life of my dreams.

For about 5 years prior to that moment, I knew in my heart what I was meant to do, yet I ignored the calling of my soul because…well I was afraid.

Afraid to fail.

Afraid to succeed.

Afraid that the life I was living by society’s standards was what life was about and that I would forever be sucked into the vortex of paper-pushing-soul-sucking-mediocre-work.

What I craved?

Passion. Purpose. Creativity. Joy. Bliss. Abundance. Adventure.
And the ZING that comes with doing what you love.

It took 5 long years for me to stop making the excuses that I didn’t have the money, the time, or the background to make my dream a reality and from the moment I took the leap, I knew I had made the right decision.

Looking back over the last 18 months, I’ve changed in a variety of ways.

I feel the fear and do it anyway.

I’m a risk-taker, a heart-follower, and now a life-changer, doing what I was put on this earth to do…work that lights my soul on fire!

Now, I am reaching out to women like you who may be struggling to find that passion and ZING that your soul craves.

Are you ready for a change? Ready to manifest and create the life your soul is aching for?

Before you answer that…answer this.

How will your life feel in 10, 15, 20 years if nothing changes right now?

If you cringe at the thought or feel that sick feeling in your stomach, it’s time for a change and this is your chance.

0001-23099893I currently have 2 spots left in my 90-day Breakthrough Program for February before my rates increase March 2nd. If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to move forward and make your dream life a reality, this is your chance.

I have opened my calendar to accommodate as many Free 30-Minute Consultations as possible before this offer expires and I invite you to schedule yours today.

This is your chance to make your dreams come true in spite of the fear that is trying desperately to hold you back.

Are you ready?

I’m Afraid to Tell You This…

February 20, 2015 by Lamisha

There have been many moments in the last 2 years when I’ve wanted to share something with you but have been afraid of what you might think.  I’ve held back and decided it might not be the right time or a good idea for fear of how it might change what you think of me.

But, I know I’m not doing you or myself any favors by not sharing the not so happy parts of my journey and as I was thinking over the last few months, I realized it’s time to share this with you.

I’ve been afraid to tell you about the 5-month period in 2014 when I thought I was going to have to close my business and give up on my dream.  It was something I never thought I would do, but there were moments when I didn’t think I had a choice.

Lucky for me, I did.

From May – September last year, I struggled to make my business work.  I had a handful of clients and the number was slowly dwindling down to almost nothing.  But it wasn’t just that,  I was struggling with something far worse…my identity.

I knew I wanted to coach.  I knew I was meant for this work and I knew without a shadow of a doubt that this was my path.  The problem came when I couldn’t quite figure out what I wasn’t doing ‘right’ in order to make my business thrive.

Looking back it became completely clear:  I was allowing others to be my guru instead of listening to my intuition.

In fact, it got so bad at one point, I was questioning my skills, my coaching, and my dream of helping other women make their dream a reality.

On more than one night I cried out of fear, worry, and pure disappointment that somehow my entire path was being thrown off and I had somehow missed the mark.  What was true was I had missed the mark, but it wasn’t in my path, it was by allowing someone else to throw me off it.

My heart and soul knew exactly what I needed to do, but I didn’t trust it.  I allowed certain mentors and coaches lead the way because I was so new to it all, I thought they knew everything.  And the truth is, they did…for their own path, but not for mine.

It took 5 months of desperation, fear, and distracted worry to lead me back to what I set out to do in the beginning…change lives.

It took many tearful nights and a whole lot of doubt for me to get to a space of clarity to see that yes I did know how to make things happen and I could listen to that inner voice inside that was telling me all along it would all work out.

Turns out she’s pretty smart.

Looking back on those moments, I am so glad I didn’t give up.  I’m glad that I reached out to the right mentors that didn’t tell me what to do or try to convince me to do it their way.

I found people that would support me in my vision, who believed in me, and helped me tap into that power deep inside that helped me stay the course and not give up.

Did they question me when I became too fearful to fly?

Yes, but out of love and the desire to see me soar.  But what they did for me more than anything else is remind me that above all else, I have to follow my heart-the very thing I teach all of my clients.

You see coaching isn’t about leading you in one direction or another or telling you how to do something.  It’s a co-creative journey that when done well, will lead you back to the power you have had all along to create the amazing life of your dreams.  Coaching is about clarifying your desires, uncovering your fears and other blocks, and empowering you in a way that reminds you, anything is possible.

I learned early on with the right support, you can make anything happen and it’s exactly why I do what I do.

After those scary 5 months of uncertainty, I now stand taller and more proud of my decisions because I know I am making them from the heart and honestly, there is nothing better.

0001-23099893If you have a dream that you aren’t ready to let go of and you need someone to support you along the way, I have 2 spots left in my Breakthrough program for February before my rates increase March 1st.  Now is the time to make the commitment to yourself and the dream that has been following you for years. Are you ready to take that next step? If so, I invite you to sign up for a free 30-Minute Consultation to chat about how I might be able to help you.  If I am not the right coach for you, I promise to help you find one that is.
