Inspiration Round-up

August 27, 2013 by Lamisha

In this week’s edition of my Inspiration Round-up, I have included some really great posts that I have read in the last few weeks and an artist whose work takes my breath away and inspires me with the work she does.  I hope you find your own inspiration and keep me posted on what inspires you most!

I love reading stories about how the Universe (insert God, Goddess, Source, or whatever tickles your fancy) provides the exact person, resource, thought, or other inspirational nugget that propels a person to take inspired action toward their dreams.  In the moment it may seem quite simple, yet when you look back on the situation you often find it was the perfect set up for progress.  I read one of those stories today on one of my favorite blogs Views From The Podium.  The Unexpected Road is about how these seemingly innocent inspirational nuggets came together perfectly and how the author made her transition from acting to teaching yoga. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

Another post I found very inspiring and enlightening comes from Jess Lively who I have referenced on my blog several times.  About a year ago she decided to close the doors on her accessory company that she had for 14 years and to expand her consulting business and ultimately follow her intuition.  In her post she describes not only how she trusted her intuition, but also the importance of letting go of one thing in order to expand another and how her consulting/design/intentional business has expanded in wonderful ways by taking that leap of faith.  I admire her courage to take that leap and to follow her intuition as I wholeheartedly believe that in order to bring new things in, we often have to let some things go.  You can read her post here and who knows, you might realize there are a few things you could let go of in order to propel you forward in a new direction.

The last post in today’s round-up is an artist I discovered just today from another blog I follow.  The post featured a unique artist whose art is intricate, whimsical, and simply amazing.  I loved the video so much I had to take a look at Lora Zombie’s site to view more of her breath-taking artwork.  As a writer/choreographer/life coach and general Jane of many trades, I find inspiration in a variety of places and there is something about Lora’s art that hits a chord with me and lights up my heart.  Her work is full of dreamy, magical images that make a statement and express a multitude of emotions.  It may sound a bit dramatic, but it is as if you can literally feel the passion, creativity, and joy that she puts into her pieces as you view them.  You can check out her pieces here.

Well that’s it for today’s round-up.  I hope you found some inspiration to move forward on your own dream journey.  Feel free to share your own favorite articles, posts, or videos in the comments section below!

Decisions, Decisions Which Will You Choose?

August 21, 2013 by Lamisha

Everyday we are making hundreds of decisions.  Decisions about what time to wake up, what to wear, what to eat, where to go, how to get there etc.  Some decisions are not huge life-altering choices and are seemingly easier to make.  If I decide to wake up at 5 am as opposed to 5:30 am, I can make that choice rather easily.  When I decide what to eat for lunch, I simply ask myself, “What do I feel like eating?”, and if it is readily available, I will eat that.  Many times these daily decisions require little to no assistance from anyone but ourselves, giving us the freedom to follow our emotions, inspiration, and our own feelings to choose between choice A and choice B.

Then there are the other decisions.

You know, the ones that feel huge, life-altering, oh-my-goodness-I-hope-I-make-the-right-choice, kind of decisions.  Those decisions are much less easy-going and can create a lot of anxiety, frustration, and worry.  Decisions about what house to buy, what career to choose, or what partner is right for us.  These are the decisions we talk to our friends, parents, spouses, and co-workers about in order to ensure we are making the right decision and yet, even with the advice from so many people, we still question some of our choices.  steve_jobs_quotes

I guess you could say many of us believe that someone else knows more about us than we do.  Maybe they are more experienced, more educated, more successful, etc., and in our eyes, they know what is best for us.  The problem with always consulting someone else on major life decisions, we lose our sense of power and freedom.  When we believe someone else knows what is best for us more than we do, we are giving away our power to someone else and in turn can lose our confidence to make choices in the future.

How many of us made a choice for our careers based on someone else’s advice.  Maybe we thought that a certain field would be more profitable or we would be more successful in it, yet we always knew it wasn’t the best place for us.

The truth is some of us (me included) have been taught to believe that there is a right and a wrong decision in life, but there isn’t.  There are simply choices that will lead you down one path or another (or many).  There is no formula that you can use to determine which is right and which is wrong because it is different for every person.

Bummer huh?

So, how do you know what is the right career path, product, partner, business decision, etc. for you?

The best way is to listen to your intuition.  You know that feeling in your gut that causes you to pick up the phone to call someone just as they were going to call you for something.  That’s the one.  It is also what I call leading with your inspiration.

When you follow the same principles for the big decisions as you do for the little ones, you learn to trust your intuition.  Did you consult with all of your friends and family members before you selected your breakfast this morning?  Probably not.  You most likely followed your intuition or inspiration for what you wanted to eat.

The same goes for making any other decision in life.  Sure, some of the bigger decisions may require some research etc., but if you can quiet your mind and get in touch with what you are feeling, you will be able to feel for the best decision for you.

In my coaching, I work with my clients to help them get more in tune with their inspiration.  I encourage them to follow what feels good to them and to listen to their internal compass (their emotions) to decide what is right for them. As they follow their intuition and lead with their inspiration, amazing opportunities and big shifts happen in what we are working on.

Inspiration Round-up

I love finding new blogs, articles, interviews, videos, etc. to help fuel my inspiration and I really enjoy being able to share these with you.  I hope you enjoy this week’s Inspiration Round-Up.

The first thing I want to highlight is a book I began reading last week as I was struggling with the fear I discussed in yesterday’s post.  I really enjoy reading and the title of the book really struck me as something that could help inspire me to trust the process again and if nothing else would assist me in seeing the silver lining.

Contagious Optimism by David Mezzapelle is similar to the Chicken Soup series in that it shares a variety of uplifting stories and insights to help the reader find the positive side of all situations.  I am only about a third of the way through it, but I can tell you it is great for anyone that needs a little pick me up.

Today I stumbled upon two unique companies that really solidify the idea that no matter what your imagination can conjure up, it is totally possible.

The first is a time capsule service called Seeds of Thought.  This company will save handwritten or typed letters for a set amount of time and send them to you (or another recipient) at the end of that time period.  The idea is to create a time capsule from a certain part of your life to review later.  I thought the idea was so cool and I am even thinking of ways I could use this unique idea in my own life.

The other company is Adventure Nannies, a traveling nanny service that helps families on the go(meaning across borders, overseas, you name it they have a nanny for it) who need a bit of extra help.  I love the fact that the founder (Brandy) used her experience in childcare and her vision to do something greater to the next level.  Still think you can’t simply follow your heart and make something amazing out of it???

And last but not least I want to share a post from Melody Fletcher’s  Deliberate Receiving blog.  This post discusses taking back your moment and being present and aware of what you need right now, what you are doing now, and simply enjoying life, RIGHT NOW!  For all you Law of Attraction lovers, her blog is really great and provides straight, no-nonsense advice on many topics relating to the Law of Attraction.

Do you have other articles, interviews, or books you found inspiring this week?  Feel free to share them in the comments.

Inspiration Round-up

August 13, 2013 by Lamisha

inspiredFor the past several weeks I have been doing Dreamer Highlights on people who I have found that are living the life of their dreams in some way.  These posts are meant to inspire you and prove that anything is possible, even that seemingly ginormous dream you want to accomplish.  In addition to finding people who are inspiring, I have found many articles, videos, and interviews that have a lot of good information that I would like to share with you.  So, once a week I will be posting either an Inspiration Round-up post or a Dreamer Highlight to help motivate and inspire you to do amazing things!!

With that said, here is the first installment of the newly created Inspiration Round-up.

  • This is the latest interview from Lilou Mace, a woman I have spoken about several times on my blog. In this interview she speaks with Jack Canfield (creator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books) about dreaming, success, and how to figure out what your life purpose might be.  Great information and I promise it will leave you with your head in the clouds.
  • This video I stumbled upon today and is a Ted Talk by a woman/musician/actress named Amanda Palmer.  Her talk is titled “The Art of Asking” and she shares how she came to the realization that asking is an art, skill, and is a way for us to share our talents, resources etc. with each other.  I absolutely love this video.  Enjoy!
  • Another great interview from Lilou Mace with Joseph Clough who has been helping people realize their potential since he was 18.  Joseph is a hypnotist and life coach helping people find what they want to do, what they are meant to do, and helping them overcome any personal blocks that they may find along the way.
  • One of my favorite videos from none other than Kid President.  Do you need a pep-talk?  “You were made to be AWESOME!” Watch this, smile, remember you can do anything, and create something that will make the world awesome.

I hope you enjoyed this inspiration round-up and I look forward to sharing many more with you in the future.

Have you read something recently that you want to share? Please feel free to pass the info along in the comments section.  I would love to see where you find your inspiration.

Gratitude: Life Purpose and Inspirational Clients

August 9, 2013 by Lamisha

This week has been a bit hairy, but in between juggling many tasks, I felt something I have been longing to feel for years.

A feeling of “Yes, THIS is what I am meant to do!”

I have always known that I wanted to be a life coach at honestly thought I would be pretty good at it, but this week I received the ooey-gooey feeling of exhilaration mixed with joy mixed with inspiration that let me know, this is my purpose.

I wish I could tell you the exact moment it hit, but I can’t.  I honestly think it was a culmination of working with two incredible clients this week who both had some major breakthroughs.  I had a feeling of awe, wonder, and excitement for their growth and am honored to be able to work with such wonderful women.  I also realized that with each new session we complete, I am also learning and evolving into a better coach.  I constantly leave my sessions feeling inspired, amazed, and content with the work I am doing.

If you told me a year ago I would be a life coach, and I would be enjoying the work that I do so much that I have a hard time falling asleep, I wouldn’t have believed you.  At that time I didn’t know it was possible.  I didn’t know, what I didn’t know.

I had no idea it was possible to simply follow your heart and allow the pieces to fall into place.  I didn’t know there was another path to the most logical and sensible path I kept revisiting.  I didn’t know I had the power to create a life and career that I both loved and appreciated daily.

I just didn’t know…

My guess is that many of you feel the same way.  You may not see the way out of a particular job or know how to get things rolling with your dream life.  Maybe all the reasons you think you can’t do it right now seem logical, but I bet if you tapped into your heart and could hear what it had to say, you would realize there are a million ways your dream can come true.  The logical option is only one.

My life purpose is to help people follow their hearts to live the life of their dreams.  It is to facilitate and co-create an amazing journey where clients leave their sessions feeling refreshed, revitalized, and inspired to keep going.

If you are interested in what coaching can do for you, feel free to contact me at lamisha@lifeoncedreamt.com to set up a FREE 30-minute intro session.  I would love to chat with you!
