Why I ditched my gratitude practice…

Gratitude is the new black, or so it seems.

No matter what it is that you want to create in your life, it seems like gratitude is the answer.

Do you want to live a happier more fulfilling life? Be grateful.

Do you want to manifest the life of your dreams? Be grateful.

Do you want to create an unshakeable mindset that leads to success for years to come? Be grateful.

Gratitude is no doubt, one of the most powerful practices you can use to transform your life. It’s a practice that has been around for ages and everyone from Oprah to Deepak Chopra recommend developing a regular daily practice to turn what you have into more than enough.

Unfortunately, the whole gratitude thing has never really worked for me (and believe me, it’s not from a lack of trying).

I’m generally a very grateful person and when it comes to gratitude, I’ve done it all. I’ve tried everything from writing 3-5 things I’m grateful for each night in a dedicated gratitude journal to creating a list of 100 things I’m grateful for each day as part of a 30 day challenge. Unfortunately each time I tried, I only managed to keep the practice going for a few days. No matter what I tried, I just couldn’t get the practice to stick and I felt like something was wrong with me.

Do something that scares you…

About a year ago I decided to take a leap of faith before I was entirely ready.

In September 2014 I submitted an article to the Huffington Post. To my surprise they liked my article and I became a regular blogger for their site.

(My latest article titled: 11 (More) Universal Truths that Will Change Your Life for the Better is here.  Feel free to read and share it with those you think need to see it.)

The second article that I submitted got raving reviews and is still a HUGE hit on the site.   A few weeks later it was such a big hit, they translated it to be published on Huffington Post Spain.

Talk about shocked!

Women from all over the world were reaching out to me after that article because they wanted my help. My words resonated deep within them and they wanted to create change in their lives.

I was in awe.

Amazed.

Humbled.

My words created a stir within so many souls and since then I’ve been writing, sharing, and creating programs from the heart to serve and inspire women like YOU.

Yesterday the sequel to the first article was published and I’m celebrating this huge moment by sharing the article with you in hopes that it inspires you to take a leap of faith of your own.

Your leap may look different than mine.

Maybe you decide to go back to school, start writing your novel, or reach out to a coach you’ve been wanting to work with.

Maybe it’s auditioning for a large (or small) role in a play or starting your own Etsy shop, or submitting your latest poems to be used on a greeting card.

Whatever it is…do it.

The truth is you may never feel 100% ready to take the leap.  When I wrote the first article, I know I didn’t feel ‘ready’.  I was inspired to do it and saw it as a challenge.  Looking back it was exactly what I needed to do to continue to grow and evolve and I’m so glad I took the risk.

Today I want YOU to take your own risk.  Don’t think about it, just do it.

Then let it go…

The truth is you are never truly ‘ready’ to do the big things, but when you feel it in your heart…you just know you HAVE to take the leap.

If you are looking for some inspiration and support for your very own leap, I’d love to chat with you.  If you are READY to kick the doubts, fears, and other BS to the curb and make magic happen in your life & you are ready to invest in YOU.  Schedule your FREE 30-Minute Consultation to chat with me about how I can help you make that happen.

How Words Can Become Blocks…

I first want to say thank you to everyone who read, commented, shared, and responded to my latest article in the Huffington Post titled: 12 Universal Laws That Will Change Your Life for the Better.  I am deeply grateful to everyone for your kindness and am looking forward to connecting with each of you either through my blog, on Facebook, Twitter, or by working with you one-on-one.

It’s long been said that words have power and when you think of that phrase you probably think of ‘positive’ or ‘negative’ thoughts.  You might think of words that empower us and uplift versus those that tear us down.  And while there are words that generally create a positive or negative feel to them, I want to talk about something a bit different.

I want to talk about words like ’email’ or ‘sales’ or ‘newsletter’ or ‘career’ or ‘money’ or ‘abundance’ or other seemingly simple words that might be thought of as neutral.

Even neutral words can be charged with a positive or negative vibe depending on how we feel about them.  One word might resonate positively for me, but for you it might feel a bit negative or heavy.

So, why am I talking about words and vibes?

Because many times the words we use (and the vibes attached to those words) hold us back in some way.

I’ll give you an example:

0001-28713102A few months back I was working with a lovely client who is also an entrepreneur.  She is incredible at what she does and is very good about making a list and doing what needs to be done except for when it came to her newsletter.  (Those of you in the business world know how much emphasis is put on your list and the newsletters you send to your list.)

My dear client was stuck.  No matter how many times that newsletter ended up on her to-do list, it never got done.  She procrastinated, avoided it, and would do 100 other things before she would think of taking care of the newsletter.

Why?

Because the idea of it was overwhelming.  The importance and power that was placed on the dreaded newsletter made her cringe.  She wanted it to be perfect and couldn’t bring herself to sit for the amount of time it would take her to get it to perfect.

After some digging we realized it wasn’t the actual newsletter that was sending her running for the hills.  It was the vibration and feeling that was attached to it that was.

I suggested that instead of thinking of it as a newsletter she think of it as just an email.  She sends emails every day to her clients so what is one more?  Changing the word also changed the vibration that was attached to the activity.  She no longer needed to fret about sending perfect emails because she emails were easy for her.

Words can become like brick walls, blocking you from being, having, or doing exactly what you need to get to where you are going.

If negatively charged words are your issue (and I assure you we all have something like that), then it can be as simple as shifting the word a bit which also shifts the vibe.

I’ll give you another example.

Just yesterday I had a conversation with another client who was struggling with doing ‘sales pitches’.  Every time she got to the sales part of her call, she would freeze up and stumble a bit.  She didn’t want to be pushy or sales-y or sleazy about it and desperately needed to find a comfortable way of dealing with sales.

I noticed the negative charge she gave to the word ‘sales’ and we chatted about changing the idea of a ‘sales pitch’ to simply an invitation, because really that’s all it is.  The word invitation instantly feels lighter, brighter, and open.  She immediately felt the difference and felt better about inviting clients to make life changes.

Sometimes the blocks you are feeling have very simple fixes.  Change the word, you change the vibration.  Words like ‘money’, ‘abundance’, ‘prosperity’, ‘rich’, etc. also have the potential to have a ton of vibrational baggage that comes along with them.

Are there any words that feel heavy, dark, or do you feel resistance to?  Share in the comments below and let’s see if we can do a simple flip to change the vibes.  It can make all the difference in how you feel.

P.S.  Friday is the last day to sign up for my Coach on Call offer and I only have a few openings left.  If you are interested in signing up, but want to chat a bit first to make sure we are a good fit, schedule your 30-Minute Consultation HERE.  I look forward to chatting with you!
