4 Things Holding You Back From Greatness

July 17, 2017 by Lamisha

If there is one thing I know it’s what it feels like to be held back…mostly by myself.

You see, on this journey of mine, I’ve been a PRO at getting in my own way of success and expansion and at one point I had done it so gloriously that even after knowing what I was meant to do (coaching/writing/teaching etc) I stalled my progress for 3 years!!!

(Just the thought of where I might be now had I started earlier, still haunts me sometimes.)

When I look back on those moments I can see so clearly the exact things that were holding me back and stopping me from taking even the tiniest step forward.

Funny enough, they are also the things I see within my clients and it may be something you’re struggling with too.

If you’ve been feeling a bit stifled in your journey and you’re not quite sure what’s got you stuck, keep reading. I think you will find the info below really helpful.

4 Things that may be holding you back from greatness.

1. Your past.  I can’t tell you how many times I hear people share with me how they can’t move forward on their path because their mom/sister/brother/spouse doesn’t support them ( or insert some other limiting story of the past). We all have a past and many of us have really painful, awful, sometimes tragic situations that have happened in our past that have been hard to overcome. I get it because I have one of my own and for a long time, I allowed it to hold me back. (Of course I didn’t know it at the time.)

When you are constantly revisiting your past in order to in some way validate where you are today, you are limiting yourself in a huge way. I am in no way trying to minimize what you have been through or the healing and care necessary to move through that, but what I am saying is that there is another way.

Your past can become the foundation that you build your future upon or it can become your resting place. You choose.

The more you give those past experiences your attention, the less power you have over your NOW. To be honest, this is a big reason I decided to go into coaching as opposed to therapy work. Don’t get me wrong therapy was a God-send for me many times, but at some point you have to shift your focus to what you are working toward and stop giving your power away to the things that have happened.

2. Analysis paralysis. Many people who are holding themselves back don’t have an issue with what to do, they have an issue with what to choose.

They spend hours, days, months, and even YEARS pondering what they should do next. Every thought seems to be followed with doubt, lack of confidence, and a general lack of clarity and momentum. They think, doubt, wonder, worry, and go through the cycle again without ever taking action.

They wonder things like…Which is the “right” way to go? How do I know if it will “work”? What should I do? What if I make the wrong move?

Again, I get it. I’ve been there and for 2+ years I delayed starting my soul’s work because I was overwhelmed with all the things. I didn’t know which way to turn or what to do. I doubted myself and even when I thought I had “decided” to do something, I couldn’t quite make it click because the doubt was within ME. I was afraid of moving forward more than I was afraid of staying where I was. So, round and round I went and it’s the same cycle I see many people in.

The answer? DO something. Make a list of all the things you can do to move you forward and pick one. The next day…do the same thing. Eventually you will get so used to taking (imperfect) action that it won’t be scary anymore.

3. Mind gremlins. I don’t have to tell you much about these because you probably already know them pretty well. The thing about mind gremlins (as I call them) is we ALL have them. I don’t care who you are or how far you’ve come. From time-to-time we all have that little voice in our head that causes us to question our abilities.

If your mind gremlins are like mine, you may see images of past failures populating your mind reminding you of just how tough it’s been and how you’ve “never” done anything like this before. Or maybe you hear your mom or dad’s voice saying something about how creative people are never successful or that, art isn’t a real job or some other incredibly frustrating thing that applies to your path.

The truth is YOU have power of your mindset and only when you understand that (and actually do something to change it) will things start moving for you. And let me tell you, it can move pretty quickly once you begin.

If you feel like you’ve been held back for a long time, your mindset may be on autopilot but the moment you start questioning (and maybe even responding to) the thoughts in your head, everything will change. I promise. So, take some time to take stock of the things you are thinking and then start being intention with your thoughts. If you dedicate at least 15 minutes a day to thinking thoughts that support and uplift you, I promise you will begin to feel the difference sooner rather than later.

4. You don’t know what you want. Sounds a bit nuts when you think about it, but it’s true. You might be surprised to know that there are far more people in the world who have no idea what it is that they want in life simply because they don’t think they can have whatever “it” may be. I talk to people all the time who when asked “What is it that you really want?” they reply with “I don’t know.”

Unfortunately, while some people are focused on living their dream life, there are far more people struggling to even dream. They’ve been knocked down so many times that they can’t quite get back to that “anything is possible” feeling we all had as children because they are so focused on being realistic.

Screw REALISTIC!

If you know anything about me you know realistic isn’t in my vocabulary. I despise the thought of anyone simply being “realistic” and settling for less than they desire and deserve. In fact, I’ve made it my mission in life to help people NOT be realistic and to actually give themselves permission to want what they want.

So, if YOU are one of those people living in “reality” and settling for whatever life throws your way, I beg you to reconsider and take a moment to ignite that inner child within you and go PLAY in your imagination a bit. If this is the thing holding you back, I want you to practice thinking outside the box for the next week. Daydream, journal, search exotic jobs and places on the internet, or follow that thread of creativity within you that has been whispering for sometime. Lean into it and see what bubbles to the surface. You may just find a whole treasure trove of goodness that will set your soul on fire and send you moving forward faster than you thought possible.

I want to leave you with one final thought in all of this.

STUCK isn’t forever and if you’ve been feeling like you have been chasing your tail for too long and you’re not sure when or how to make it stop…ask for help.

That is one of the things I waited too long to do. In fact, I waited a full 2 years (in my business) before I ever hired someone to support me. Now, it’s second nature to me.

You don’t have to do this alone and it doesn’t have to be hard.

Reach out. Ask for help. Believe in yourself. Get curious. Lean into the process.

When you do that, magic happens.

I know because I’ve been in your shoes.

So here’s the deal, if you’ve been struggling with 1 (or more) of the things above then my 6-week 1:1 program is what you need to shake the cobwebs loose and get you a plan of action forward again. It includes 3-45 minute coaching sessions and 6 weeks of unlimited guidance and support through video messaging and email for $597.

Top 5 limiting beliefs that may be holding you back…

April 28, 2017 by Lamisha

When it comes to our mind habits and limiting beliefs, there’s likely not a belief I haven’t seen or heard at this point.  In fact, there are quite a few that I hear over and over again and today I’m sharing them with you.

To be honest, many of these I’ve struggled with a lot over the years so I completely understand how difficult it can be to shift them…but it IS POSSIBLE.  I’m living proof and so are my clients.

Top 5 Limiting Beliefs (that may be holding you back)

  • I’m not enough.  This is your run of the mill belief that can stop any new venture, decision, opportunity, or potential success in its tracks.  It’s likely the one I hear the absolute most from people (many women in particular) and it runs DEEP.  The not enough-ness many times has no basis other than feeling like you aren’t good enough, smart enough, ready enough, strong enough, prepared enough, thin enough, rich enough…you name it.  It’s also the belief that keeps people playing small and ultimately paralyzed by fear of failure.
  • I’m not worthy.  This one runs a close second to the one above.  Somehow, somewhere along the lines many of us have internalized the message that we aren’t worthy of amazing things happening to us and for us.  We often believe that somehow we are ultimately flawed and thereby don’t deserve the riches, success, joy, love, excitement, adventure, ease, and flow that we desire.  And if by chance we allow a little bit of that into our lives…we feel guilty and shut that shit down, because who are WE to have all the good stuff?
  • It has to be hard.  Likely drilled into us from past generations, far too many of us struggle with the belief that anything worth doing has to be hard and if it comes easily, it’s just not worth it.  Easy feels like cheating.  Hard is where you prove to yourself just how strong, powerful, and worthy you are because isn’t that what life is all about? (Spoiler alert: No, it’s not.  Life is meant to be enjoyed.). Yes, there are times on your path that may feel difficult, but that’s not the way it always has to be.
  • It’s not meant for me. When it comes to success, love, money, and happiness, many people believe that they are somehow different from the next guy.  Sure they can have the success, adventure, and ultimately happy life, but it’s just not in the cards for me.  I’m meant to suffer.  (Wrong!) This belief causes us to believe that somehow we are so different in who we are that the miracles and magic of the world are set aside for a select few and we just aren’t a part of that crowd.
  • You can’t have it all.  This belief has been one of my biggest struggles by far.  For a long time I believed that “having it all” was a myth.  I thought that if you had the riches and success, you couldn’t have true love.  If you had a happy, humble home life, you couldn’t also have the powerful career and money.  You had to simply choose what is most important and allow that to be the “good” you allow into your life.  The truth is that is total BS.  You can have it all, the moment you nip this gnarly belief in the bud.
And let’s not even talk about the Money Beliefs we carry with us…actually, let’s talk about them for a moment!

Money is such a funny topic (not funny-haha, but funny as in weird) for people.

Whether you realize it or not, you likely are carrying some really heavy money-related junk with you from your parents, grandparents, and family.  We all have some money stuff (or had it at some point in our lives) and it has a direct effect on how we view, manage, receive, manifest, earn, and handle money today.

Here are a few common ones that you might resonate with…

  • “Money is hard to make.”
  • “Money doesn’t grow on trees.”
  • “No matter what I do, there’s never enough.”
  • “Rich people are jerks, selfish, and self-serving.”
  • “I don’t have enough.”
  • “Money isn’t important.”
  • “Money is the root of all evil.”
  • “To make a lot of money you have to sacrifice other things.”
  • “I’ll never be rich.”
Do any of these resonate for you?  (If so, I’d love to hear which ones, hit ‘reply’ and share a few that you carry around with you.)

If some of these resonate for you, I’d like you do a little experiment.  Take a look at your financial picture for a moment and notice what you see.  Are the numbers where you want them to be or do you find that you typically hover around a certain number?

Maybe you are like I was…struggling to make it from paycheck to paycheck or always feeling stress when it comes to money.  That was my reality for a very long time, until I started learning about my money mindset and changing the thoughts I was practicing within my mind.

The way you feel about money (and anything else) directly affects how money (or anything else) shows up for you in your life.

YOU have the ultimate creative power over your life when you accept that your mindset is what helped you to create where you are.  It’s nothing to be ashamed of, it’s just where you are now.  The key is deciding what you are going to do about it.

All of the beliefs I’ve listed above are things that have impacted my life and it was only when I was willing to do the work (the mindset work that is) to clear them out and began building positive habits in their place was I able to see the changes happening in my life.

Mindset work isn’t “magic”, but it sure feels that way once you begin.  You’ll ask yourself why you ever waited.

I don’t want you to wait anymore.
I don’t want you to struggle anymore.
And I certainly don’t want you to have regrets about not getting support when you needed it most.

So…if any or all of the beliefs above resonate for you then the Miracle Mindset Immersion Program is absolutely the program for you.
You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

So what do you say?  Are you in? If so, hit the info below and get signed up!

Giving you a peek behind the curtain…

April 21, 2017 by Lamisha

I want to be completely transparent and real with you (as always) and let you know that sometimes the path to the most amazing things you ever imagined isn’t all rainbows and unicorns.

At least that’s been my experience.

There IS ease, grace, flow, and beauty on the path, but there is also a fair amount of resistance, crunchiness, and “tests” that come up too.

And it’s during those “tests” that we need our mindset work the most!

I know there are a lot of people out in the world looking for the quick fix and the magic bullet to make life 1000% better and while working on your mindset and learning to LIVE by the #2 secret I shared on the webinar the other day (go have a listen if you don’t know what that is) will absolutely improve your life 1000%—> it doesn’t always feel easy.

Sometimes it feels downright HARD.

I know this because I live it…daily.

I am not perfect.  My mindset isn’t that of a Tibetan Monk and I have my share of freak outs (hello all of January and part of February), but I have experienced some truly incredible shifts by turning my focus to the ONLY thing I (we) have control over…my mindset.

  • I’ve overcome daily, general anxiety after suffering with it for years
  • I’ve consistently taken on new challenges that scare the bejesus out of me and succeeded in many of them.
  • I’m happier, healthier, and less of a control freak

And if I could name the greatest change of all it would be the fact that I actually have a framework and practice to get back to when I fall off the deep end.

  • When my son (who was recently diagnosed with ADHD) was kicked out of his private school last year due to some ADHD related challenges…my mindset work saved me from completely losing it.
  • When my mother in law had to move in with us unexpectedly due to some personal challenges…my mindset work saved me.
  • When I feel like I’m “failing” (yes, even coaches feel this) and like I may never recover…my mindset work saves me.
  • When I’m triggered by the uncertainties in life and business…my mindset work saves me.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that even as a coach, I have challenges and when I find something that works to help me rebound from those challenges and decrease the frequency of them…I want to share it.  It’s what I’m here to do.

So, if you are looking for a quick fix or a magic bullet…this isn’t that (and frankly there is no such thing).

However, if you are looking for a strategic plan to help you move through life with more ease, grace, and knowing-ness for miracles to unfold on your path…the Miracle Mindset Immersion Program is for you.

I promise it will transform your life…if you do the work. <3

It all starts May 1st and if you sign up in the next 48 hours you are still eligible for not only the early bird rates, but you are also eligible for the BONUS week on Money Mindset (which I have to say is pretty amazing).

When your partner/spouse/kid’s mindset gets you down…

January 24, 2017 by Lamisha

I’ll be the first to tell you I’m not the most Zen wife and mother.

At times (ahem more than I’d like to mention) I allow the negative emotions and reactions of my son and wife get the best of me.

You know what I’m talking about right?  A grumpy reaction, a temper tantrum as we are walking out the door, or a blatant complaint about money or life in general can wear on you after awhile.

I hear this from my clients and tribe all the time and last week I put together a little training on what to do if your spouse, partner, child or anyone else for that matter has a negative mindset and it’s affecting you.

How do you change them???

Check out my answer to the question every one is wondering here.

(I promise it’s not what you think but this is a good one!)
