Don’t Settle…

September 23, 2014 by Lamisha

SERENDIPITY

Have you bought the myth that you can’t have everything you want?

That if you have a fabulous career you love, your relationships have to suck?

OR if you have an amazing relationship, you can’t have all the riches your heart desires?

OR even if you have all the money you desire, you might have to enjoy it all alone?

I’m calling bullshit.

I want to know… Who are you not to have it all?

Who are you not to have the love, the riches, the joy, the career, the family, the fame and anything else your heart desires?

Believing anything less feels like lack. It feels like maybe we think we don’t deserve it.

Because the truth is happiness is not just the stuff in fairytales.

Life is about living, loving, sharing, expanding and experiencing everything.

That’s why I created the Blind Spot Discovery Sessions, laser-focused one-on-one calls where we identify and clear the blocks holding you back – for good.

So you can go on to experience, expand and enjoy the life you’ve always wanted.

We’ll identify and clear the blind spot that’s been in the way for too long.

The Blind Spot Discovery Session includes:

  • 30-minute consult to help me understand where you are and where you want to be.
  • 90-minute call (phone or Skype) so we can dig in. We’ll identify the blind spot, uproot it and arm you with the tools you need to clear it once and for all.
  • 30-minute follow-up to keep you on track.
  • Unlimited email support between calls and for two weeks after our follow-up.

Do you know what happens when you believe you can’t have it all?

You settle.

You settle for the parts of your life that aren’t working because you believe if most of your life is going well, you shouldn’t complain.

Let’s not do that. Let’s knock this blind spot out so you can get on with your amazing life.

Investment: $549 or two payments of $300

Because you don’t have to settle, and you certainly don’t have to accept anything in your life isn’t working the way you want it to.

I have a few slots left this year for Blind Spot Sessions. Contact me at lamisha@lifeoncedreamt.com and we’ll get you back to fabulous NOW.

The Love Rant

April 15, 2014 by Lamisha

love

It’s not Valentines Day or Sweetest Day, however love is on my mind.

Why?

Because I just got married, like yesterday.

And while I am very much the romantic, swooning, wear my heart on my sleeve kind of gal, I enjoy love in all forms, not just the romantic kind.

I have said this before and I am going to say it again so bear with me while I go on a little love rant.

I have lived the life of just getting by in my work.  Doing a good job, but not really loving what I do.  While it was manageable for several years, I knew there was something bigger and more soul-satisfying out there for me.  When I found coaching, I knew.  Now that I am living my dream, doing work I absolutely freakin’ LOVE, I can’t imagine doing anything else.  Life is amazing. Truly.

I have also lived the life of doing things that others expect of me.  Fitting into a mold, life, and expectation of the world and not allowing myself to take care of my own needs and do more things I love.  Simple things like reading, writing, and spending time in the sun.  Things like taking vacations, going to yoga, or taking a nap when I feel like it.  Now that I am giving myself permission to do more of what I LOVE, life is a lot better.  I’m healthier, happier, and find myself enjoying each moment far more than I have in the past.

The next thing on my love list is kind of a big one.  I have lived the life of judgement.  Judgement of others (which I am certainly not proud of).  Jealousy for what I felt I was missing in my life and a general lack of love for others.  Now don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t a mean person per se, and I didn’t feel this way about all people, but what I realized was my outward judgement for others was really an inward judgement of myself.  I wanted a life that I felt I didn’t have and didn’t have the ability to create for myself.  All that has changed.  I have realized that not only are we all connected, but that love is the most important thing that connects us all.  Instead of comparing where I am and judging myself for not being as far as someone else, I try to remember we are all on our own journey and in celebrating the success of another, I am able to see them as an example of where I can be.

So what is this little love rant all about?  It’s about infusing your life, every part of your life with a little bit more love.  Everything from showing yourself some extra love and care to doing kind things for others.  Allow your soul to sing by doing more of what you love.  Share your gifts with the world.  Smile at strangers and make their day.  Love yourself and each other and by golly if you are spending 40+ hours a week struggling through a job that ‘just isn’t that bad’, take some time to explore what you truly want to do.  Now is the time to do it!

I’ve said it before and this isn’t likely to be the last time (in case you were wondering).  You deserve to do what you love, to have more fun, and live a joyful, amazing, and abundant life.  You don’t have to only pick one thing to make you happy and let the rest go.  YOU have the ability to create an amazing life and but you have to first make the decision to do so.  So what are you waiting for?

Are you ready to take the first step to creating and living the life of your dreams?  Let’s chat about your biggest, boldest, most amazing dreams you have processing. I am opening up several new client consultations for anyone who might be interested now through the end of April, so contact me ASAP to grab your spot.  I am also launching a wonderful group coaching opportunity for those of you that might not be ready for full-on individual coaching.  Sign-up for my VIP list so you don’t miss the special launch info and additional gift for the first 5 sign-ups.

A Little About Me and Why I Do What I Do

November 8, 2013 by Lamisha

When I was younger I remember growing up watching my mother struggle to take care of myself, my sister, and my little brother.  At the time I knew it was hard, but I had no idea how strong she had to be to get through the many trials and tribulations she did until I was much older.

I remember watching her work whatever job she needed to in order to make ends meet and no matter how tough it got, she always found a way.  I became a bit of a worrier during those years.  Sad that my mom had to work as hard as she did and always wondering what I could do to help out.  It was then I became an avid problem-solver.  I can remember watching my mom want something bigger and better for herself and for my siblings and I. The something bigger was to pursue a career in the medical field.

Several times she attempted to go back to school, but as you can imagine, juggling kids, full-time work, and life all on your own can be tough.  There never seemed to be enough time or money to do what she had always dreamt of doing, yet she didn’t stop.

Each time she tried the same things stopped her from moving forward.  Simply put things just got too hard.  She had to let go of her dream because her reality was calling to her so loud she couldn’t ignore it.  It’s hard to ignore bills, multiple jobs, and children.

As I watched this play out, I decided the answer would be for me to go to college, get a degree, and get a good job.  I didn’t even know what that meant, but I suppose as long as I had enough money to pay the bills and could care for myself that is what mattered most.

I never thought about what my passion was or even what I would really like to do.  In fact, it wasn’t until I had changed my major to Exercise Science with an emphasis in Fitness did I see how a person could have such passion for their field.  I had an instructor who loved fitness.  She was more than your typical fitness enthusiast, she was a fitness educator.  She loved her job and it showed when she spoke.  Her face would light up, her eyes would twinkle, and she would be full of so much energy I couldn’t help but think maybe she had too much caffeine.  Turns out she just really loved what she did.

I finally decided to drop the emphasis part of my degree, because I simply didn’t feel the same passion as my instructor.  In fact, the day I told her that I didn’t love it as much as she did, I think she was a little taken back.  While surprised she understood that I didn’t feel the same way about her beloved career, but when asked what I was truly passionate about, I didn’t have an answer.  And instead of trying to figure it out, I simply finished the program I was in without the emphasis and graduated on time.  Soon after I found an administrative assistant position with a great company which would become the first “just a job” with many more to follow.

Meanwhile, my mom made her way back to school.  She moved through her nursing program and the challenges it presented.  I watched as she worked a full-time job and studied all while taking care of my little brother who was still at home.

She worked hard.  She worked a lot.  But a few years ago she finally achieved her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse and enjoys each and every patient she has because this is her passion.  This is her calling.

As for me, I realized after a few too many “just a jobs” that the little part of me that was interested by life coaching in college (while I was listening to a lecture for my exercise instructor class) was really the beginning of knowing what my calling would be.

Through all of that here is what I learned:

  • I learned that we each have a passion and a purpose, something that really gets us excited about life and whatever that thing is for you, is what you should be doing.
  • I learned that it is never too late to do what you want to do in this world.  Life may be short, but this very moment is the most time you will ever have to accomplish your dreams.  So start now.
  • I learned that job=money and passion=purpose and that if you follow your heart, the money will come.
  • I learned that no matter how big, how crazy, how wild, or how unattainable a dream may seem it is ALWAYS possible.  You just have to take the first tiny step and watch how the Universe supports you in your plight.
  • And finally, I learned that no matter who you are, where you came from, or how stuck you may feel in your current reality, there is always a way to make your dreams a reality.

And because of all of those things I learned, I am living a life I once dreamt, helping you to do the same and for me that is a dream come true.

You know who I really love to help?  Women who may fall into the “just a job” rut and are looking to find work that they truly enjoy.  Work that makes them smile, gives them purpose, and energizes them because it is the work they were meant to do.  I also love working with women who are going through one of life’s big transitions, you know the ones that leave you asking the question: So what’s next?  Whether you are newly retired, an empty-nester, or you just feel like your life is in a rut, I can help you get unstuck and on your way to making the rest of your life, the BEST of your life.

How I’m Building My Life Coaching Dream

January 10, 2013 by Lamisha

In my last post I talked about my current midnight hustle and how my life coach training may have to be put on hold longer than I originally had planned, however I wanted to give you a little bit of insight into how I am keeping my focus strong on my dream of inspiring and changing lives through coaching.

I decided just before starting this blog, that I wanted to do something now that would  not only support my journey to becoming a life coach, but also keep me inspired, motivated, and focused on my vision.  Since I am very much a do-er, I wanted something that I could do besides sit and daydream about “one day when”.  Over time the list of things I am doing to prepare for my business has grown and I am delighted to share them with you in hopes that you find a bit of inspiration to take action on part of your dreams, even if you have to wait for other pieces to fall into place.

So far here is what I am doing to prepare, plan, and focus on my business:

Research -When I first realized I wanted to be a life coach, I had no idea where to begin, so naturally I enlisted the help of the internet and did as much research as possible.  I wanted to see how other coaches had gotten started, where they studied, and what they were doing.  I even spent some time interviewing people who were in the coaching business.  This piece has been essential and while I did most of my research in the very beginning, I still do a bit here and there as I begin thinking about what I want my business to look like.

Blog – As my excitement grew, I felt like I had to do more than just read about coaching.  I realized I was already coaching friends, family, and co-workers in one way or another, so why not use my writing to reach out and inspire others?  After many months of intentionally planning the focus for my blog, in October 2012 I started writing.  I decided my blog would eventually turn into a portion of my business page and what better way to launch a business than to have readers to launch it to?

Brainstorm – This seems like a no-brainer, but I have spent some time over the last year simply writing down ideas, thoughts, possible business names, and things I would like to offer within my coaching.  In fact, I have a notebook dedicated to my business ideas and the best part about it is I just let my creativity flow.  I don’t limit anything that I write or judge it as good or bad, I simply brainstorm.  Who knows what it might turn into?

Collect Information – A few months ago I started a folder in my email entitled “Business”.  In it I collect newsletters, blogs, advice, and other information that I receive from various websites I subscribe to and my intuition tells me this is going to be very beneficial later.  Much of the advice may not apply to me right now, but it is something I can use in the future.  For instance the last one I received today was from Jess Lively in her “Wish I Knew Wednesday” post about dealing with worry and doubt as it applies to business.  I highly recommend being added to her newsletter if you are thinking of starting or have your own business and want some advice from someone who has been running her own business since she was 15.  And since I didn’t study business in college and am a newbie to being my own boss one day, I will take all the advice I can get.

Learning– One other item I am doing a little bit of is studying other coaches and their methods as well as gaining valuable insight from a free training program a dear friend sent me.  I love learning and the more information and knowledge I have before I actually launch my business, the more confidant I will be.  So I am taking full advantage of any information I stumble upon that may add to my training (even before training), or my business knowledge.

Allowing – I had to add this tidbit of info because while it seems that I am actively planning and building my dream, that isn’t exactly the case.  I am simply allowing things to unfold organically.  Conversations lead to research and research leads to books with tons of information etc.  I am keeping an open mind and following the flow of life.  I know in due time my dream will become real

So in a nutshell that is how I am planning for my business that I have yet to create.  My vision is growing more realistic, vibrant, and exciting everyday and I can’t wait for the day I get to experience it.  The truth is it’s far more than a vision, this is my dream on a journey to becoming reality.

Do The (Midnight) Hustle

January 8, 2013 by Lamisha

Over the last few years I have come in contact with a handful of innovators looking to start (or recently started) their own businesses in various ways.  Some people were following their creative hearts, while others were simply looking for a way to be their own boss and spend more time with their families, but regardless of what these people were doing, one thing was common amongst them, the midnight hustle.

If you don’t know what that is let me explain.  The midnight hustle is the way many new business owners, creators, and innovators make their business dreams a reality.  Let’s face it, not many of us have the riches to simply quit our day jobs to follow our dreams without cultivating and growing our business on the side and by “on the side”, it likely means during the midnight hours when other people are sleeping, hence the name midnight hustle.  And with that midnight hustling often comes late nights, less sleep, hard work, and hopefully amazing inspiration to keep you moving toward your dreams so you can one day quit your day job and enjoy the fruits of your labor doing something that you truly enjoy.  And while I am far from quitting my day job, I am experiencing a bit of my own hustle as I reach beyond my comfort zone into new opportunities and new territory.  It’s exciting and terrifying all at the same time.

I have talked a little bit about my dream of starting my own life coaching business, but the truth is my dream isn’t to start the business per se, it is really to help people through my business.  I thought the path would be fairly straight forward, but I am finding that I may be taking a bit more of the scenic route as opposed to the straight shot as I go with the flow of life.  The programs I have found in the last year haven’t really touched me in the way that makes me think, “Yes this is the ONE!”, so I have been researching various programs in hopes to find the one that best fits my purpose and calling.  I think I have finally found it.  (YAY!) But, with it comes a pretty hefty price tag, one that is about double the price of the last program I was going to settle on.  So, it looks like the actual training may be put off longer than expected, but as you well know I am not one to sit around and do nothing and being the jack of many trades that I am, I am following an equally creative and exciting interest, writing.

The truth is I have always enjoyed writing but I have just recently begun to make some money from it and it is becoming a bit of a midnight hustle for me.  While I only have one regular gig right now, I am learning that the key to having one or many midnight hustles is balance and knowing your limit, both things I am working on right now.  I am very aware of the amount of time I have in my days (and nights) to complete writing projects and am working on a bit of a writing schedule that will allow me to continue to share my journey here on my blog (because I love it so much), and to still complete writing projects in a timely manner.  My hope is that my current midnight hustle will help support the training I need for life coaching and things will seamlessly flow with one another leading to (one day) quitting my day job to do something I love.  But, until that day comes I am going to consciously balance my time to include self-care, meditation, and family because life shouldn’t be all about work, it should be fun too.

Do you have a midnight hustle? If so what is it?
