What really changes your life isn’t Motivation, it’s Inspiration

I used to think that I needed the motivation to do things-you know things like working out and eating better.

I’d look to my super-fit friends and think “Gosh if only I was motivated to do those things…”

Turns out it’s not about motivation at all…it’s ALL about inspiration.

Here’s why…

When we are motivated to do something, it’s likely from some external source.  We follow in someone else’s footsteps because we see the results they are getting and we want the same for ourselves.

Seems logical, but the problem with motivation is that it doesn’t last.  The fire we initially feel may last a few days, but then slowly our energy wains and we are back where we started.

Now inspiration is something entirely different.

Inspiration in my experience has always been that quiet voice or nudge I feel inside that says “Oh yeah that’s a great idea.”  It may not have as much fuel and fire as motivation does initially, but it lasts much longer.

Not only that, it also is typically connected with other inspirational thoughts and nudges that keep you going.

Imagine for a second you are an author writing a book.  Do you look for the motivation to write the book or do you have the inspired thoughts come through that cause you to begin writing?  Chances are it’s the inspiration that sends you back to the page.

The same thing works with how we create a life we love.  It’s not about being motivated to get stuff done or to move forward on our path.  It’s the sometimes whispers of inspiration that lead us to take action.

Does motivation work?  Yes to get you started, but if you are forcing yourself to keep going then it likely won’t last long.  And it will be a long, hard road to get to where you going and nobody wants that.

Inspiration on the other hand feels natural, much easier, and it flows.  At times when I am following my inspiration, it just feels like a no-brainer thing to do.  No stress, worry, or struggle.  Just EASE.

Now, doesn’t that sound better than working, pushing, and forcing things after your motivation wears off?

For some it sounds too good to be true, but I guarantee that inspiration works and it’s the best way to make your dreams come true.

It’s what I teach all of my clients and what I’d love to teach you.

So, tell me what is it that you feel inspired to do right now?  Share in the comments below.  And if you are interested in learning more about this easy, fun, freeing, and flowing way of doing things, schedule a FREE 30-Minute Consultation now and let’s chat!

7 Movie Messages & Universal Truths

Every Friday night in our household is Family Movie Night.

My son gets so excited to run up and grab one of his favorite movies so we can all snuggle up with a big bowl of popcorn and enjoy our end of the week treat.

And every single time we do this, I come away from the movie in utter amazement at the messages I receive and the reminders about how life really works.

So much so, that I have been inspired (time and again) to write a post about the specific messages because they are SO amazingly true.

Now, most of the movies we watch are kid’s movies, but I am always astounded by the wisdom that is sprinkled throughout and I hope that they ring true to you as much as they did for me.

Movie:  The Croods:

Quote: (Dad)”Those rules. They kept us ALIVE.” (Daughter) “That wasn’t LIVING…That was just NOT dying!”

The Universal message: Fear doesn’t just keep you ‘alive’, it also keeps you from truly living.

Food for thought: What have you allowed fear to keep you from truly living?

Movie:  Meet the Robinsons:

Quote: “Keep moving forward!”

The Universal message:  You are never done with living life.  With whatever mistakes, mishaps or perceived snafus that happen, keep moving forward is all you need to do and it always works out.

Food for thought:  Where do you need to keep moving forward?

Movie: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Quote: “There’s plenty of money out there. They print more every day. But this ticket— There are only five of them in the whole world, and that’s all there’s ever going to be. Only a dummy would give this up for something as common as money.”

The Universal message:  There is MORE than enough money to go around.  The only thing keep us from it is the thought that there is a limited supply.  It is printed every single day and when you focus on the ‘golden ticket’ moments of life, money flows effortlessly.

Food for thought:  Where are you seeing lack in your life and ignoring the ‘golden ticket’ moments of life? Isn’t it time for a change?

Movie:  Frozen

Quote: “Let it go!!!”

The Universal message:  Let go of the fear, the worry that you are too powerful and the way others think and feel about you.  The only thing that matters is LOVE.  Let the rest go. Oh, and when you are feeling like life is challenging or you know-you freeze an entire city, just let it go and have fun.  The rest will work itself out.

Food for thought:  What do you need to let go of right now?

Movie: Lego Movie

Quote: “Everything is AWESOME!!!”

The Universal message:  YES everything IS awesome when you choose to see it that way! And it’s even better when you give yourself permission to live your dream.

Food for thought:  How can you choose to see the awesome in life, because everything is indeed awesome.

Movie: Big Hero 6

Quote: “I’m not giving up on you. You don’t understand this yet, but people need you. So let’s get back to work.”

The Universal message: Don’t give up.  The world needs you and the Universe isn’t giving up on you or the brilliance you bring to the world.  Keep. Going.

Food for thought:  Where do you need to try again?

Movie: The Muppets

Quote: ” Life’s a happy song….I got everything that I need, right in front of me.  Nothing’s stopping me, Nothing I can’t be with you right her next to me.” ( I could keep going but you get the idea.)

The Universal message:  Life is amazing.  Always. And when you focus on the things right in front of you and experience the beauty that is surrounding you, it just gets better and better.  You have everything you need…and then some.

Food for thought:  What are you focusing on right now? On the beauty, joy, and love of life or something else?

Messages come in a variety of forms and they may mean something different to you.  What messages have you experienced or received recently?

Feel free to share them in the comments below.  They just might be a message someone else needs to read.  🙂

You don’t know, what you don’t know…

A few years ago when I was still working in the corporate world, I had a boss that used to say “They don’t know, what they don’t know and it is our job to teach them”.

At the time it didn’t really make sense and since I didn’t care much for this particular boss and how she ran the company, I just let it go.

But, just the other day I was chatting with my wife and that quote came to mind and it totally resonated.

It was like a light switch had turned on and I finally understood what she meant and it 100% applies to what I do in my work every single day.

Truth be told, I’m more than a coach.  I am much more of a teacher and the coaching work I do helps to bring to light the things that my amazing clients can’t quite see.

I help them tune into the things they can’t tune into.

I help them break through the mental blocks they didn’t know they had.

And then I TEACH them how to do all of that themselves (using tools like the ones I teach in the Grow, Evolve, Become program) because my work is all about EMPOWERMENT.

Now, does this mean I can help everyone in the world? No.

And even if it did mean that, it’s really not my purpose.

The women who are destined to work with me are already undergoing a transformation.  They know that there is something out there that they don’t quite know and subconsciously they are seeking a way to find the answer.  They may not even know it until it pops up in their newsfeed or they stumble upon one of my articles.

In fact this very thing happened for one of my recent clients:

“There is an expression that “when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.”  How grateful am I that Lamisha was that teacher and the Universe literally put her in my path, because that is what happened: Lamisha appeared in my Facebook feed and, through conversation, we found each other.” ~ V.F.

That is the true magic of this work.  When you are ready for change (and you are open), the person, group, network, or resource you need just pops up seemingly from out of nowhere and when you follow your inspired action-magic happens.

So what kinds of things don’t people know?

Some people:

  • Don’t know that THEY are the creators of their own reality and have the ability to create a life they LOVE.
  • Aren’t aware of how important how they FEEL is to creating that amazing life
  • Don’t know about the Law of Attraction
  • Aren’t clear on the ways they are blocking what they desire from coming into their lives
  • Don’t know that it can be EASY
  • Just don’t know HOW to make it all happen

Do any of those things resonate for you?

Today, I want you to ask yourself a few questions:

  • What do I LOVE about my life?
  • What do I ACHE for in my future?
  • What don’t I know that might change my life and future forever?
  • What do I need to DO right now to move me forward?

It may be hard to figure out what it is you don’t know right now because, well you don’t know it, but you might just get an answer that surprises you.  Be open to what may come up and LISTEN.

And if you are feeling the pull to reach out for help, why not schedule a Free 30-Minute Connection Call?  I’d love to chat with you and learn a bit more about you and help in any way I can.

An Interview With: Veronica Nieves the Soul Desire Coach

May 18, 2015 by Lamisha

***In my work, I come across so many amazing coaches and kindred souls that I just have to start sharing them with you.  Today I am introducing you to Veronica Nieves the Soul Desire Coach.  I met Veronica a few months ago and I am so excited to share with you an interview I did so you can get to know her a little bit better.

AND-she has so graciously offered to give away 1 Soul Desire Session as well as 1 Reiki session on June 2nd, so make sure you sign up for that!  Enjoy!***

Hi Veronica, tell us a little bit about your journey and how you became the Soul Desire Coach.

Veronica Nieves-Soul Desire Coach
Veronica Nieves-Soul Desire Coach

The awareness of my journey, into listening to my soul, started when my daughter was born.  My whole being was in awe of the miracle of birth and I wanted to create a miraculous life for myself and my family, the best life. There was that part of me inviting me to live in a joyful authentic place that was me. Now I have come to realize that it was my soul.

Early on I just felt the longing to live a life I would love, but I didn’t know how. I was bogged down with the day-to-day responsibilities. I did what I thought was the right thing to do at the time. I looked toward the external ideals of success to create that miraculous life. I worked hard to build my career as a teacher, be the best mother I could be and the best wife. Everything in the external world appeared to be in place. I was married, I had a child and a respectable career and approval from family and friends. I was successful. But this restlessness and a longing for more continued.

This is when I discovered Reiki. It opened me up to the idea of the energy body and an internal knowing.  Reiki gave me the opportunities to connect with my universal life force, the energy of source and the know that I was part of something greater. It slowly started to provide insights, calm my mental chatter so I could take the necessary action steps. I could feel myself hanging on to what I had known, what seemed good and comfortable. The restlessness began to grow in all areas of my life and Reiki provided a self-care routine as I started to let go of limiting beliefs.

Then my mother passed away of breast cancer and that was a catalyst that shifted me into honoring my soul and living its desires. I knew that I had to help others gain their awareness and live a life that was truly theirs. The pain of living a life that was too small for the soul was something that I knew others where feeling and needed support to transcend.
What does a Soul Desire Coach do?

As a Soul Desire Coach, I help you to connect to the part of you that longs for experiences that would be fulfilling and are truly aligned to what you are meant to do. It is about doing what you are curious about, sharing your gifts, discovering who you truly are and experiencing a life that is authentically you.

What are some ways we typically ignore the calling of our soul & why?

There are 3 ways that most of ignore our soul’s calling

  1. We are conditioned as children to listen to the adults around us instead of learning how to tune in to what we truly desire.
  2. Because we live in social groups like our families, friends and work we often seek approval from our group in making decisions. If our thinking is not in alignment with the particular group that we participate in, we may decide to ignore or soul’s calling in favor for social approval and acceptance.
  3. We often think, if we are living a “good” life, why should we want more? It has to do with our conditioning or programming.  For example, simple phrases that we hear over and over again might get stuck in our programming of how we live life. Take the phrase “want not waste not”, if it’s in our programming we may decide to stifle our desires because it is not what we think we “should do”.

What are some ways that we can connect with our soul desire?

One way you can connect with your soul’s desire is to begin to feel and notice sensations. For example, what does it feel like to be in your body? Can you feel the softness of your skin or the firmness of your feet against the ground? Bringing your awareness to your body opens up other ways of interacting with the world instead of just your intellect.  The soul is a language that is found in our feelings and sensations and resides in the heart center.

Another way to get in touch with your soul’s desire is to change your relationship to commonly held aspects of living, that affect how we choose to navigate in the world. One such aspect is time. Time presents itself as a reflection to our beliefs about it. If we perceive time in a way, that favors what we want to accomplish, then the desires of what we long for seem possible, instead of out of reach.

You use Reiki in your work too right? Can you tell us a bit about what that is and how it works for those that may not know.

Reiki is life force energy. Is the energy that is part of us and connects to the universe. This energy is stored in our bodies and is around us. But each of us has our own unique life force energy that we are either circulating or blocking.

How does Reiki enhance your work?

Reiki energy works on the idea that we are connected to the universal source, an energy that supports our innate healing abilities. We have energy centers in the body know as charkas and meridians and around our body known as the aura.

When the flow of energy is optimal all the centers are moving the energy in ways that support us with ease. When the energy centers are disrupted, which can happen because of negative thought patterns and experiences, it blocks in our optimal energy flow. Reiki helps to clear the blocks so that our energy can flow optimally again. Reiki influences physical, mental, emotional and soul energy.

You are also using it in moon ceremonies is that right?  Where can people learn more about that & maybe sign up to participate?

Reiki connects our body’s life force and uses the energy of the celestial moon, which has it’s own relationship to us in order to create an aligned flow of manifestation of our desires. We can release blocks and manifest our desires with the moon energy. Reiki boost the connection because we connect as our universal source potential, that part of us that knows all is possible and doesn’t entertain limits.  I just finished with the New Moon Reiki ceremony on Saturday, but I will be hosting them for each full and new moon.  If you would like more information about those ceremonies sign up here and you will be notified of the next ceremony.

And if people want to schedule a Reiki session for themselves how might they go about that?

To schedule a Reiki session you can check out my website or schedule a session here.

What 3 things would you suggest to people that may be struggling with their soul desires?

1. If you are struggling with your soul desires do open stream of consciousness journaling for about 10 minutes. You can start with the phrase I am struggling with my soul desires because… and list everything that comes up for without editing. Pick the one struggle that you can transform in a short time.

For example, when I was thinking of moving to the west coast, I made a list of all the struggles or a con’s list. One of them was, my uncertainty about where to move to. I took this struggle and asked, “how can I figure out where I want to move to?” Through open stream of consciousnesses journaling I came up with a few ideas. One of them was to move close to a friend until I could checkout different areas and that’s exactly what I did.

2. Struggling with your desires means that you are beginning to listen to your soul, but there is a block keeping you from fully committing to your soul’s desires. List 5 things that you would love, but you are not doing. Ask yourself, “if I where on my deathbed reflecting back on my life, would I regret not doing those things I love?” If it’s a “no”, then you need clarity in defining your soul’s desire. If it’s a “yes”, then seek out support so you can begin to live the life of your dreams.

3. The third option is to schedule a free 30 minute consultation by clicking here, to talk about how I can support you in living the desires of your soul

You’re stuck, but are you LISTENING?

Over the years I have been known for being so busy thinking, analyzing, planning, strategizing, and making things happen that I can’t actually hear what I need to do.

I get caught up in the action and doing of life instead of being.

I have often forgotten about the wealth of knowledge and information I have within if only I would listen.

It makes sense that as humans, we often try so hard to make things happen that we also end up making things much more difficult than we need to.

We miss the signs and signals about when it’s time to act and when it’s time to lean back.  We miss the messages that are around us all the time.

I talk a lot about inspired action and how important it is in creating a life you love and I get a lot of questions about what inspired action really is.

Simply put, it’s listening and responding.

Hearing the message and acting on it.

Feeling the inspiration to act and not questioning it…just doing it because it feels right.

And often times that feeling isn’t the most logical thing in the world.  In fact, at times it can seem downright insane, but every time I’ve acted on my inspired thoughts, it’s always worked out. Always.

So, if you feel STUCK and are wondering what the next step is for you, it may be that you just aren’t listening to the messages that are coming through.

Here are a few ways that I’ve found messages to show up for me:

  • Seemingly random thoughts in the shower (the shower is where I often come up with many program ideas or article titles)
  • Billboards with messages that resonate with me strongly
  • Song lyrics or quotes that feel especially powerful
  • Thoughts that float in with ease and feel simple and easy
  • Ideas that come quickly and just click
  • Inspiration that comes through when I am journaling or working with a client
  • Messages for others that I get while I am coaching that are also messages for myself

And sometimes I even get that earth-shattering lightning bolt of a thought that sends me running to find paper and a pen to get it all down before I forget it.  But, most of the time the inspiration flows in and out with ease.  It’s not pushed, pulled, or forced.  It’s just easy.

So, today as you think about a particular area of your life where you may feel stuck, I want you to think about the messages you may not be hearing.  What are you missing?  What feels almost too easy for you? Go do that.

Even if it doesn’t turn out to be THE thing that gets you unstuck in the moment, it will most definitely lead you down the path that will.

And if you are still struggling with feeling stuck and want more info on 5 ways to break free from stuck.  Check out this FREE audio that will help you get unstuck instantly.
