Blissful Breakthroughs & My Truth

April 21, 2014 by Lamisha

The other day I had a personal breakthrough and ‘aha’ moment that resulted in me writing the post below on Facebook with a promise to write a full post on what it really means today.

“I know now more than any other time in my life it is imperative for you to live the most authentic life possible. BE you, EMBRACE who you are, LOVE yourself for ALL that you are, and above all else, be true to you. Don’t be afraid of what others might think or feel or believe about you. It’s not their life, it’s yours. Live it, love it, and encourage others to do the same!”

Part of the work I do involves not only getting to know many clients on a very personal level, but it also forces me to take stock in who I truly am.  It allows me to learn, grow, and evolve with each interaction and the most recent evolution has led me to share with you a bit more about who I am.

When I began my business, I thought I had to be ‘business-like’.  I compared myself to others and attempted to some degree to emulate their practices and systems.  I wanted to be successful and since I was new to the business/coaching game, I opened myself up to learn as much as I could.  Even while I was telling my clients to create their own paths and forge ahead fearlessly without having the path laid before them, I was looking in the wrong places for mine.  I was walking in circles avoiding the one true path that was my own, the path I am sharing with you now for fear it would scare people away.  I thought that by sharing my true essence I would scare away potential clients, business partners, and friends that have known me for years.

So what is all this about?  What is the my true essence and who is Lamisha Serf?

I am a freedom seeker, lover of life, and a sharer of light and love.  I believe we are all meant to have a blissful experience while we are alive and part of that means finding our true calling, purpose, and passion.  Life is about growing, evolving, and stepping into our true power, not just physically but spiritually too and before I lose some of you, I am not necessarily talking religiously.

If you were to categorize me you might categorize me as a hippy, hippy-dippy, or a bit woo-woo and as a dear friend so eloquently put it the other day, “Call it woo-woo if you simply like to call spiritual things woo-woo. But if you call it woo-woo because you think it’s weird, I suggest finding a new term. That’s mis-using woo-woo!”-Torrie Pattillo of Holistic Voyage

I use woo-woo as a positive thing meaning all things spiritual.  I meditate, use crystals, read books about metaphysics, psychics, and so much more.  I pray to the Divine, use affirmations, study the Law of Attraction, set my intentions, and practice gratitude.  I have friends and clients who are holistic coaches, intuitive healers, Reiki practitioners, and Angel readers and I love it all!  I am fascinated by the Akashic Records, by who I might have been in my past life, and how the body handles energy of all sorts.  I read about chakras, have mine balanced, believe in magic, miracles, astrology, and the beautiful cycles of the moon.  I am fully aware of what happens during Mercury Retrograde and take special notice of my thoughts when I notice the numbers 11:11 on the clock.

I read all the time.  Books on self-development, connecting with my intuition, communicating with loved ones on the other side, and any of the other many New Age subjects can be found on my bookshelf at any given moment.

I love learning, connecting, and helping people break through the blocks that keep them playing small because for far too long, I have done the same.  I have allowed my fears of what others might think, my anxiety of who I might lose, and my stress of what lies on the other side of this Truth to hold me back for too long and now I am stepping forward.  Proudly.

So what does all of this mean?

It means that there are some things that are going to change around here…with love.  I am going to be my true, authentic self and stop hiding the hippy-dippy, woo-woo, tree-huggin’ hippy that I am.  You might be reading things with a spiritual twist and if it resonates with you, awesome, if not, no worries.

It also means my work, coaching, and pricing structures are going to change a bit.  You see coaching is not just about helping you get from point A to point B…in fact most coaching isn’t about that at all.  Many coaches work on a very intimate level helping clients delve into the dark areas they would rather keep hidden from others (and themselves).

It is in these places that healing, reflection, and growth are needed the most and while I have done a bit of that work in my last year of coaching, I have found it to be my sweet spot.  I get the most fulfillment out of coaching by creating loving accountability for my clients who are ready and willing to dive into the emotional centers of their souls that house the blockages that keep them from moving forward. I get excited when I can celebrate blissful breakthroughs with women as they open up to their true and authentic selves that shed amazing, illuminating light on their path forward.  Through the blockages and breakthroughs I act as a guide and provide the safe space for women to share their deepest dreams and desires while unlocking their fullest potential that many didn’t even know they had.

lightSo, to the fellow freedom-seekers and soul-centered women who are ready to share their gifts with the world, I am here to help you make blissful breakthroughs so you can begin living the life you were meant to live…the life of your dreams.  To the yogis, healers, artists, creatives, business owners, and light-workers of the world, your gifts are meant to change the world and I am ready to help you move through the blockages that have you stuck and keep you playing small.

It’s time for you to step into your power and allow your amazing light to shine.  Are you ready?  Contact me to schedule your 30-Minute Consultation today.

Dream Changer-Featuring Applied Kinesiologist Felicia Giouzelis

April 9, 2014 by Lamisha

***This week I am so excited to present to you one of the co-creators and teachers of the Unleash Your Personal Power e-course (registration ends April 14th!!!), Felicia Giouzelis.  Felicia is not only a powerhouse of knowledge and experience in muscle-testing and Applied Kinesiology, but she is also a beautiful soul with a passion and spark that you can’t help but feel from her with every interaction.  You will see what I mean when you read her dream changer post below.  I hope you enjoy her story and check out her website for more information about how she changes lives on a daily basis. Take it away Felicia!***

My dream changing moment exploded onto the scene in August 2013. I had spent the past year in a high-profile position within the food service industry zoiresponsible for several departments in several locations for a company that was rapidly growing. I had revamped all processes and procedures within a year, launched a successful software redevelopment project from the ground up and altered the entire direction that this company was taken and yet, I felt empty inside.

That amount of success took approximately 90 hours per week from my life, it robbed me of my exercise routine, my healthy food choices and even my personal goals and aspirations. I watched myself deteriorate into a person that I no longer knew and I had seen this person before. The workaholic die-hard overachiever that got amazing amounts of work done but lost herself in the process. I try very hard to live without regrets, but if I were to regret any choice it would be the times that I had lost sight of myself.

Before I began that position, I was going through a terrible breakup. Looking back on it now, I realize that the job was an escape for me. I didn’t want to deal with any of the feelings associated with the breakup, so I buried myself in a position that was busy enough to help me escape. I used 90 hours a week as an excuse not to deal with any of the feelings associated with the breakup. By no means was I required to work 90 hours a week. My self-proclaimed undying determination was the reason for the extra hours, or so I thought at the time.

In August 2013, at the culmination of burnout… I lost it! I lost the need to continue working crazy hours, the need to put others before myself and the need to find fulfillment through my job. At the height of burnout, I resigned from my position. The day after my last day of employment, I simply collapsed on every level. My physical body finally had a chance to recover from the self-induced overwork of the past year and all I could do for two months was sleep about 16 hours a day – ironically, the same amount of time I was working each day!

Within a week of leaving, I started to think about what the next chapter of my life would entail. At that moment, I was invited to an advanced class in Applied Kinesiology at a school in New Mexico. The call was too loud for me to ignore it and it felt like I already belonged there. I flew out and was right, I felt instantly connected to the course and the people. It was at that moment that my entire life direction changed and I felt the shift very strongly.

I felt like I had come home.

These days a six-hour workday is about all I can muster and referring to it as a ‘workday’ is a comical statement to me. I have so much fun with applied kinesiology, it feels like I haven’t worked a single day. Being of service to others in healing is by far the most fulfilling part of my life.

Today I lovingly and gratefully reflect on my former position as a required step in my path. Without that intense pressure, I don’t think I would have left the position and found my true calling.

Headshot(1)Felicia is determined to live in a world where everyone is healthy, thriving and dis-ease free! As an applied kinesiologist, she’s been applauded by her peers and clients for her ability to explain how the body functions, the root cause of imbalances and how to bring it back into balance holistically – in easy to understand terms. When she’s not working with her amazing clients, you can find her pouring over articles and books about epigenetics at the local park.

Her latest e-course — Unleash your personal power — hits the internet on April 1, 2014 (registration ends April 14th!)

What do YOU want?

March 31, 2014 by Lamisha

With the release of the Unleash Your Personal Power e-course that starts tomorrow, I have had this consistent question come up for myself and my clients over and over again.  And if you know me, you know that when I see a theme appear, I take notice.

The theme this time boils down to one question: “What do YOU want?”

It seems like a simple enough question, but when was the last time you asked yourself that?  It seems we are far more tapped into what we think we need as opposed to what we want in life.  Add to that questions like:  What do you want…to feel, to see, to experience, to be, etc., and the question can get a bit convoluted.

I know on any given day, I am more likely to share with someone what I ‘need’ to get done rather than what I actually need or want for that matter.  Ask me what I want and I might be stumped for a moment if I am so far entrenched in my ‘have to’ list.

Why is that?

There seems to be a general perception that giving and doing are far more important than allowing and being.  So when we take the time to see what we

Course begins April 1st!!!
Course begins April 1st!!!

really want, it feels foreign and often uncomfortable.  It is of course necessary to feel the discomfort in order to move through it and identify what it is we truly want.

The truth is this:  You have the ability and power to make your life happy, just as you have the ability and power to make your life less than happy.  You can choose to thrive or simply survive.  The choice is yours to make.  However, if you are merely surviving what life throws your way then you are not really harnessing the unlimited power you have within to make this life amazing and magical.  It may be that you don’t have the tools, practices, confidence, or knowledge you need to use that power.  And if you fall into that boat then I assure you the Unleash Your Personal Power is the course for you.

This course isn’t just about getting what you want in life, it’s so much more than that.  This course will teach you effective and life-changing tools and practices to live the best life possible all the way around.  It is being offered by myself and three other talented women who have collectively coached and taught hundreds of people to harness and utilize their own power.  If ever you have thought about how to live the best life possible starting now, this course is for you.

This self-paced e-course begins tomorrow and to make it even easier for you to join us, we are offering a payment plan option so it is affordable for everyone.  This course is transformational, inspirational, and full of power.

You already have the power within to make your life amazing, we simply want to introduce you to it.  Are you ready to join us?  If so you can sign-up, learn more about the teachers of the program and try out a free meditation here.  Life is far too short to merely survive what life throws at you.  This is your chance to thrive!

Why “Trying Harder” isn’t the Answer

February 10, 2014 by Lamisha

I cringe every time I hear the words “try harder”.  For some reason it sends the message that you just aren’t doing enough to make it (whatever it seems to be at the moment) happen.  It also suggests that if you are giving your all, it just isn’t enough.

Ick!  Just writing that makes me cringe.

I am not the kind of coach that is going to tell you to push through the pain and “try harder”.  I won’t tell you to power through or work harder at whatever you are doing.

Why?

Because honestly, I care more than that and I don’t believe our dreams come true with blood, sweat, and tears (at least it doesn’t have to be that way).

I believe in a better way.

When clients come to me and say they are feeling stuck or in a standstill with the progression of their dreams, I try to tap into what they mean by “stuck”.  Are they stuck on ideas, actions, motivation, clients, or forward movement?  Do they need logistical assistance or is it an internal block we need to address?

Understanding where the glitch lies is paramount in helping them work through it.  Unlike how some sports coaches might tell players to work through the pain and “power through”, I just don’t believe in telling someone to “try harder”.

I like to actually suggest the opposite.

Instead of pushing and fighting for the next step, what if you were able to take a step back and simple allow it to come to you?  What if you could relax, regroup, and trust that you don’t have to fight, claw, and force the answers to come.  What if right here, right now, you didn’t have to do anything?  What if they could simply flow….

In our society that is a big what if because we aren’t taught that growing up.  In school we are taught that if our grades aren’t high enough or if we aren’t doing well enough in a particular area, then we must try harder.  But what happens when we are giving our all and we still feel blocked?  What then?

Sometimes trying too hard pushes the thing we want to achieve, further away.  By forcing it and trying desperately to make it work, we cut off the flow of inspiration and energy.  We allow the frustration to settle in and when that happens, the fight gets harder.

Take writer’s block for instance.  For those of you who have ever experienced the Achilles heal of writing, you know the harder you try to force your words to flow, the harder it gets.  But, when you are able to step away, change your focus, get some fresh air, and then come back to it, it seems as if the clouds part and the heavenly writing angels sing.  Your thoughts turn into beautiful words that when weaved together create a tapestry of creative-awesomeness. flow

I believe the sweet spot for your dreams to become reality is in your inspiration.  When it feels hard, sticky, frustrating, or like your progress has reached a plateau, the answer is not to try harder.

The answer lies in letting go of the reins and creating the space for your next step to appear.

How do you do that?  Here are a few things that I find helpful.

  • Change your focus to something else.
  • Sing, dance, or listen to music.
  • Read a good book, go for a run, or do some yoga.
  • Meditate, have coffee with your friends, or write in your journal.
  • Laugh, smile, or do something nice for someone else.
  • Take a hot shower, get a massage, or go for a walk.
  • Enjoy some time in nature, breathe deeply, and remember that all is working out for you.
  • Remember you don’t have to have it all done right this moment, but trust that you will have it done.
  • Enjoy the journey.  It’s so easy to get caught up in the decisions, steps, and plans we have in life, but in the grand scheme of things, the juice is in the journey.  Enjoy it!

You may find that your sticking points are scattered along your path as things grow and evolve, but if you can remember to flow instead of forcing the next step to come, you will not only soon be celebrating your dreams becoming reality, but will also find that you had fun along the way!

The Big, Ugly, Green-Eyed Monster

February 5, 2014 by Lamisha

We have all had this experience at one time or another right?  You have an amazing dream, you work hard for it, you have a passion that runs deep, yet you keep running up against brick walls and speed bumps.  And then as you open your Facebook page to drown your sorrows in some mindless news feed scrolling, you see the amazing things everyone else is doing. (What?!)

You see business posts about how someone just made a bajillion dollars within their very first day of launching a new program.  Someone else just had a baby and is now rockin’ a beach body with 6-pack abs and don’t get me started on the other people taking amazing vacations, getting job promotions, and landing free tickets to their favorite show.  All the while you feel like pulling your hair out because you can’t get your website to look right, your clients won’t call you back, and your dog just puked on the rug.  (Insert a string of expletives here.)

You wonder how it can be so easy for everyone else and not for you.  You question what you are doing wrong and as shallow as it might sound, you want what they have…and you want it yesterday!

Can I tell you a secret?envy

You are not alone.  Everyone has had their own experience with the big, ugly, green-eyed monster, especially when things feel like they are taking a turn for the worst. I’ve been there and the reason I am writing this post now, is because I found my own green-eyed monster poking it’s ugly head out a bit recently and I don’t like it.

Step one in dealing with the monster is recognizing it.  Step two is realizing that everyone has their own version and you are not alone.  Step three, dismantle it.

But how?

I think we all know that the face we put on Facebook and other social media platforms isn’t always 100% accurate right?  I mean, sure people post their best statuses and best pictures during times when things are going well, but that doesn’t accurately depict what is really going on in their lives.  And even if their lives are all shiny diamonds and gorgeous rainbows, there really is no reason to compare.

Take your big dream for example.  It’s YOURS.  It’s unique, exciting, and dipped in all your amazing-ness because it is your dream, not someone elses.  Their path to success isn’t going to be the same for you and let’s be honest, how they define success might not be the same either.  For one person success is being able to live a minimalist lifestyle with their family at home while another is being able to travel the world on a whim.  Your dreams, your goals, your success, are all yours.  You get to dictate what it looks like, how it feels, and what that means to you.

That sounds all fine and good but when it feels like things are going nowhere and your dreams have grown stagnant, their lives sound really good.  So what about that?

In my own experience (just this past week), I have had to identify where the green-eyed monster was coming from.  Is it really about what they have or is it a lack that you feel regardless of the comparison?  Is it because they are so much further than you or are you worrying about something that has yet to come?

Understanding the core issue to envy is key, but it can be hard to pinpoint especially when you are in the throes of it.  Here are a few things to remember when dealing with your own big, ugly, green-eyed monster:

  • “Comparison is the thief of joy.” Theodore Roosevelt – This is by far one of my favorite quotes because it is so true.  We don’t know much about what other people have going on or what it took for them to get to where they are today.  It isn’t fair to you and your dreams to compare your progress, journey, or pain point to someone else.  Be easy with yourself and trust that things are working out exactly as they should.
  • Bring yourself back to this moment.- Every time we focus on a future (or past) moment in time, we are not allowing ourselves to truly be in this moment.  Envy is the same.  When we are looking at what others have and we don’t or when we are wishing, wanting, and desiring to be anywhere other than where we are, there is opportunity for a disconnect.  But, when we are in this moment and can accept it just as it is, then there is no comparison or room for envy.
  • Trust– A big part of making your dreams become a reality comes down to trust.  Trusting your intuition, your gift, and your path and reminding yourself that you will have all the things you need to make your dreams come true in due time.  There may be lessons to learn, people to meet, or opportunities to accept that will lead you to the very next step and being envious how it worked out for someone else is a waste of energy.  Trust the process.
  • Celebrate the success of others– I understand sometimes the last thing you want to do is celebrate the success of another especially when you are struggling with your own dreams, but what if seeing the success of others is somehow letting you know that not only is success possible, but that yours is on the horizon.  What if that could provide a bit of inspiration instead of envy for you to keep going?  Wouldn’t that be something?  Instead of wallowing in the world of envy, you could be congratulating and celebrating with others as you trust that your own success will come when the time is right.

We have all experienced our own version of the green-eyed monster, so if you find yourself feeling a bit envious, just be easy with yourself.  Your time will come and your journey will be amazing, in its own way.  For now, just relax, regroup, trust the process, and remember why your dream is so important to begin with.  And if all else fails, stay off of social media sites, chances are you could use a little unplugged time anyways.
