Sneaky limiting belief…

I wanted to jump in here and share a quick exercise that will help you get clear on the sneaky limiting belief that might be holding you back from what you actually want. 

I want you to think of a specific goal/desire you have that has felt a bit elusive to you & then I want you to answer this question…
 

Why don’t you want it? 


I know…it’s a crazy question because you just said you want it. But, stick with me for a second. 

If there were a reason you wouldn’t want it…what would that reason be? Or another way of putting it is what negative impact might you have by reaching/achieving that goal?

Example 1.) You might want to find your life partner so you can finally settle down AND you might not want that because you don’t want to lose your freedom & sense of adventure for the sake of a relationship.

Example 2.) You might want to finally write your book & become a best-selling author AND you might not want that because you don’t want to open yourself up to potential haters or bad reviews.

By not achieving whatever your goal/desire is, you are also protecting yourself from whatever that potentially negative consequence might be for you. 

So…why don’t you want it? 

Identify your reason(s), then actively & intentionally practice new thoughts about that potential consequence so it’s a non-issue. For instance, you get to have a loving life-partner relationship and still experience more freedom & adventure than ever before…provided you believe that. 
 

Remember…the limiting belief is ONLY true if you believe it AND you get to choose what you believe. Choose wisely. 


This exercise alone will help you uncover so many sneaky limiting thoughts & the simple act of intentionally choosing different thoughts, changes everything for the better (& quickly). So, give it a try & let me know what comes up for you. 

I promise, you are so much closer to what you want than you think. Tweak those thoughts & get busy doing your thing already.

She is you.

I want to tell you about one of my clients…

She runs a successful counseling practice in Europe. She utilizes EMDR & a variety of other modalities to support her clients all over the world. She has multiple therapists working beneath her & is absolutely brilliant at what she does!

In a recent session we uncovered a sneaky thought cycle that has been keeping her in a holding pattern & she had no idea that it was there. 

Through a series of questions, body awareness exercises & an opportunity to slow down her mind & go within we were able to access the thing that was actually holding her back. The thought that if she allowed herself to desire more, she might mess up everything she’s worked so hard to achieve. (Yes, she was one of the clients I mentioned last week.)

Listen…she didn’t have that thought because she’s broken or “less than” in some way.

She is brilliant.
She does brilliant work in the world.
She is successful. 


She is also human with a human brain that does weird things sometimes because she’s growing, evolving & wants to create more magic in her life. 


She is me.
She is you.
She is us.
 

I say all of this to say- everyone needs a coach because everyone has a brain that does weird things sometimes…especially when you want to do something new or different.


Life is about expansion & having someone else there to hear what you’re not saying & access the shit you can’t see on your own & help you through it is absolute GOLD. <–It’s why I have my people helping me too.

What is mindset?

If I had to define this whole “mindset” work thing…here’s how’d I’d explain it. 

Mindset work that actually works (aka the work I do with my clients) isn’t about thinking happy thoughts & staying positive 24/7. In fact sometimes, it feels like the exact opposite of that. 

To be honest it’s mostly…

–> Feeling the wide variety of emotions that come with being human & allowing them to be what they are without judgement.

–> Being willing to feel like shit temporarily so you can eventually move through to feeling & thinking better. (Because your feelings are for feeling.)

–> Witnessing your own human brain when it’s going off the rails & learning to love yourself through it.

–> Learning to manage & regulate your nervous system especially if/when you never learned how to do it properly growing up.

–> Soothing the body FIRST & then setting the mind with new thoughts/beliefs.

AND it’s also thinking new thoughts, embodying them & taking action from that place. 
 

It might sound complicated, but I promise it’s all part of a seamless process that not only works, but is so much easier than you think (especially if you have someone walking you through it step-by-step). 
 

You want to really change & transform your life by changing what you think & believe?

Self Sabotage- How to break the cycle

Self Sabotage sucks. If you’ve ever gotten stuck on the roller coaster of self-sabotage & wondered what the heck was going on…this video is for you. 


This is the reason you get stuck in the feast & famine cycle with money, pick fights & find flaws within your new, healthy relationships. It’s also the reason you procrastinate, resist & completely avoid certain tasks after you’ve achieved a goal. 

Sabotage shows up in a myriad of ways because our brains are nothing if not creative in how they seek to bring congruence between what it sees & what it believes.  (And that my friend is exactly what it is doing.)

Have you ever seen those shows that talk about how lottery winners go bankrupt surprisingly quickly after a massive win? Yes, they are spending quite a bit of money, however it’s less about what they are doing & more about what they are thinking/believing that leads to their demise. 

The truth is, you can work hard to shift your circumstances & they will change, but likely not for long if you aren’t also shifting how you think about yourself & how you show up in the world. 

I recently saw a quote on Instagram from the account @coach.cary that summed it up quite nicely. She said…

“Your nervous system is more likely to choose a familiar pain than an unfamiliar joy.” 


And I’d go so far to say that is also true about your brain.
 

You don’t need more workouts, motivation, planners, IKEA organizational bins, a 10 part morning routine or even more willpower to achieve & maintain what you desire. 

You just need to learn to think differently, consistently. And I can teach you to do that. 


It’s time to get off the sabotage roller coaster & into the life you can’t stop thinking about creating.

It is done: 2 thoughts to adopt

It is done…

Here are 2 thoughts I shared with a client today & want to invite you to adopt this week (and beyond). 

1.  It is working.  (What is working? Everything. All of it. What you’re doing. What you’re working on. What you’re working on believing. It is done.) Say it with me…It is ALL working.

2. This is not a problem. (What is not a problem? Whatever you currently think is. It’s not a problem because it’s already working, solved & resolved. Period.) Say it with me…this isn’t a problem. It’s all good!

Practice weaving these thoughts into your days this week and notice how you feel. 

Remember, your mind/thoughts are always working…you just need a few tweaks to get them working FOR you. Aren’t you ready to see that happen more fully? Get on my calendar & let’s make it happen together.
