Ask the Coach: Q & A Part 3

January 7, 2016 by Lamisha

How do I know that my life purpose is indeed my purpose?

The simple answer is that if you are doing something you love and you are following your heart then you are indeed living your life purpose.  One misconception many people have about their life purpose is that it has to be one ‘thing’ and the only thing.  Or that when they realize it that the clouds part and angels sing and everything feels right with the world.  While that might make things much more interesting as far as life goes, it’s not exactly how it happens.

You know you are on the right path and doing what you are meant to do if it brings you joy and you are following your heart.  The truth is your life purpose can evolve in the same way we do as individuals.  Don’t worry about choosing one thing or feeling like there is something wrong with you if you don’t choose one thing.  Listen to your heart and do what you love.  That’s all we really need to do anyway.

What does it mean when you lose motivation and what can I do to reignite it once it’s lost?

This is a great question!!  If you think about the question above you might think that if you have lost your motivation for something or you feel a bit sluggish in one area that somehow your purpose has shifted.  That certainly could be the case if it happens over and over again, however motivation comes as a general ebb and flow.  The truth is there is a difference between motivation and inspiration.

Motivation is generally caused by an external force while inspiration comes from within.  It’s similar to someone jumping up to go to the gym and you being motivated to join them, but when you have to go alone, you don’t generally have the inspiration to do it yourself.  When you begin to lose the motivation to do something and you truly want to continue doing that thing (whatever it is), then you must tap into first the ‘why’.  Why is it important for you to continue doing it?  What are you getting out of it?  What is it fulfilling for you?  Answer those questions and see if you don’t become inspired to begin again.

You can also lose motivation by way of burn out.  Sometimes pushing, forcing, or otherwise trying to make something happen can create burn out and you simply need a break.  Take time out to do something else entirely.  Go have fun!  Many times I find this to be exactly what I need to do in order to be inspired again to move forward.  In fact, I found myself spending the holiday season taking time off to just relax, regroup, and re-energize myself.  Once they were over I was able to jump back in with both feet to what is inspiring and motivating for me.

When you’ve lost motivation or inspiration try a few of the things listed below.

  • Take a break and go do something entirely different
  • Have FUN
  • Ask yourself why you started to begin with and reconnect with what is important to you
  • Do some EFT to see if you can actively shift whatever is stopping you
  • If you still can’t seem to get motivated, it might be time to shift your focus and do something completely different

I hope this installment of Ask the Coach has been helpful for you.  If you have questions that you would like to submit, simply contact me here with your question and I’ll be happy to include in in a future post.

Do you want a life with more meaning in 2016? Read this!

If you would have met me about 15 years ago, you would find that I was struggling with finding my true calling in life.  While I was going through the motions of living the responsible and logical life I thought we all should live, my soul was slowly dying.

As the years passed by, I realized I was craving a life where I knew I was making a difference.  A life that would allow me to embrace all parts of my being and feel creative, powerful, and passionate about life.  Isn’t that what life was supposed to be about?

Didn’t they tell us that we could be anything we wanted to be growing up?  I couldn’t quite figure out how that could be when everyone was telling me to do all the ‘adult’ things like go to college, get a job, and then pay bills like the rest of society.  I felt like an odd duck for wanting more.

Not necessarily more money (though I did want that), but more meaning.  I wasn’t willing to accept the idea that we were put on this planet to merely survive life.  My soul told me otherwise and come hell or high water I was going to figure out what it would take to create that meaningful life I so desperately craved.

And I did and it turns out it boiled down to 5 simple things…(Spoiler alert: Money wasn’t one of them.)

You can read more about my passionate awakening and the 5 Simple Ingredients for a More Meaningful Life over on The Huffington Post here.

Feel free to read it and if you like it share it with someone who could use the info.

5 Things to do to start your 2016 off right

The New Year is coming, are you ready?

Over the last few days I’ve been in hard-core planning mode.  I LOVE this time of year.

There is nothing better than the fresh feeling you get when a new year rolls around.  It makes you feel like anything is possible huh?

In addition to getting super clear on what I desire for 2016, I’m doing a few other things to start the year off right.  I’ve gone through a series of various ways to prep for the New Year over the last few years, but I’ve gotten to a point where I’ve found what works best for me.

Is 2016 YOUR year to kick ass and take names?

Is it the year you finally let go of the excuses and make your dreams a reality?

Ready to up-level?

Of course you are, but first…do these 5 things.

  1.  Release your beliefs.  There is no better time to get rid of the thoughts and beliefs that are no longer serving you than now.  In fact, it’s time to remove ‘can’t’, ‘lack’, ‘not enough’, ‘never’, and any other variation of those words that create a negative feeling for you.  YOU have the power to create your reality and you are, every single day, but first you must clear out your mindset to make room for the abundant and life-giving thoughts that will catapult your life to the next level.  Write down all the beliefs, feelings, memories etc. that you are ready to release on a piece of a paper.  Send them love and then burn that sucker.  Out with the old…in with the new.
  2. De-clutter your space.  I go through various fits and starts of de-cluttering throughout the year, but I love doing one big purge at the end of the year.  A little trick I learned from my good friend Lisa Sharp over at Clear Calm Space is to set a timer for each are of your home you are de-cluttering and then get to work.  Books you are no longer interested in or won’t read again, old papers and notes, clothes and shoes that don’t fit or you don’t wear anymore all must go.  Donate what you can and trash the rest.  Clearing out your space creates a physical peace that does wonders for your energy and paves the way for new opportunities and ideas to flow.
  3. Get clear on what you want for the New Year.  You’ve heard me talk about the 2016 Create Your Shining Year workbooks by Leonie Dawson and you know how much I love brainstorming brilliant ideas and this workbook is awesome.  In the past few weeks I’ve been getting clear on the feelings, opportunities, programs, offers, and experiences I desire for 2016.  I’m not talking about ‘how’ I’m going to do it just yet and you don’t have to either.  Just getting clear on WHAT you desire is a huge first step.  Whether you use these planners or something else entirely, it’s extremely important to decide what you wish to bring to fruition in the New Year.  (P.S. The Planning Party is still open so if you want to join us, you can purchase your workbook above and I’ll get you added to the group.)
  4. Choose your WORD for the year.  Every year I choose a word or phrase as a theme for the year ahead.  In 2014 I chose “Show up” and in 2015 I chose “Go Pro”.  This year I decided to go with one word and instead of thinking it through logically, it sort of chose me.  For 2016 my word is FLOW.  I desire more flow in abundance, ideas, creativity, and in fun experiences.  Being in the flow feels amazing and that is my guidepost for all that I do in 2016.  I encourage you to select a word for yourself.  Use it to make decisions for the year, to set your goals and to keep you focused on what is important for the year ahead.
  5. Take action.  So many people start with an amazing vision for what they want to accomplish for the year ahead, but fail to actually take action to move them toward their goals.  I encourage you to select a few things that feel a bit scary, but totally exciting to jump start your year.  Big action (in spite of your fear) is really what will make the difference between staying stuck where you are now and moving into the future your soul is craving for you.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on what you want to create for the year ahead.  Share your word of the year or your action in the comments below and let’s make 2016 magical and full of wonder!

I also encourage you to reach out for help with making your dreams come true.  Hiring a coach is hands down one of the best ways to take serious action and jump start your year.

Permission to be happy: Granted

December 21, 2015 by Lamisha

I’m going to tell you a little secret about life that I’ve come to learn.

YOU have the ability to BE HAPPY right here, right now, no matter what your outer reality looks like.

All you have to do is give yourself permission to be.

That’s it!

Sure, it might feel a bit better to have more money in the bank, a loving partner who adores you, and a puppy who is delighted when you come home, but you don’t need all of that to be happy right now.  That’s just icing on the cake!

In fact, if you want to manifest any of those beautiful experiences (including the career, car, or vacation of your dreams) you must be happy first.

Like attracts like and in order to have more things that bring you joy, you must first radiate joy.

It’s just how it works.

Unfortunately many of us have gotten sucked into the idea that we will finally be happy when we get….there.  (Where ever “there” is anyway.)

As human beings we are blessed with amazing desires for incredible experiences that we can savor with every one of our senses and there is nothing wrong with that at all.  However, when we make any situation, opportunity, experience, or thing that isn’t currently in our reality to be the source of our joy…we lose our power completely.

No person, job, bank account, car, house, or anything else has the power to make you unhappy…unless you allow it.

Period.

And only YOU can cultivate the joy, peace, bliss, and pure happiness within yourself regardless of what is going on around you.

How?

By deciding to be.

By doing the things that light you up (no matter how small).

By giving yourself permission to feel the joy, love, and beauty that is all around us at any given moment despite what hasn’t manifested for you…yet.

And if you are like me, right now your mind is saying…BUT, But, but…there has to be more!  What else can I do?  Just tell me already!

Here’s your action step:

Grab a pen and piece of paper and start what I call a Love List.  Write down all the things that you LOVE about yourself, your life, spouse, job, the world etc.  List all the things you love…even if you don’t have them in your experience right now.  By simply reflecting on the things you love, you raise your vibration and I guarantee you will not only feel happier, but you will begin to manifest your desires with ease.

Happiness is an inside job and it’s time we got back to tending to our inner garden and stop making excuses about why we can’t be happy right now.

Life is too short not to feel the joy of the world and especially around this time of year when there seems to be a little bit of magic everywhere.

If ever you needed permission to be happy where you are, with what you have, as you are.

Consider your permission to be happy: GRANTED from now until forever more.

Don’t go into the New Year playing victim to the world.  You have the power to create anything you desire, you simply have to decide to do just that.

What’s holding you back right now?  Fear? Worry? Something else?

If you are ready to kick ass in 2016 and claim your happiness and everything else your soul desires, I want to chat with you.  Schedule your free 30-minute consultation below and let me help you make next year the best one yet!

2015 Lessons: The things I learned so you don’t have to

December 8, 2015 by Lamisha

As 2015 begins to wind down, I’ve found myself reflecting on some of the major life (and business) lessons I’ve learned this year, many of which have brought me to a new level as an entrepreneur and coach.  In fact, one of the things we are doing over in the 2016 Planning Party is taking stock of what we have accomplished and the lessons we have learned over the past year before we move forward into creating our vision for 2016 (using the 2016 Create Your Shining Year Workbooks).

To be honest it’s one of the most eye-opening exercises I’ve ever done.

2015 has taught me a variety of things but the most important lessons I’ve shared below.

  • All the answers I need lie within.  Now, this is an obvious lesson for many people, but it’s one I tend to learn over and over again.  While many of us want someone to tell us what we should do in life, we really have all we need to make those decisions for ourselves.  This year, I’ve learned to tap into my intuition a lot more than I have in the past and have really begun trusting that inner voice that tells me when to relax and when to take risks.  It’s not always second nature, but I think I have finally learned that whatever answer I am looking for…going within is always the first step.
  • I am a powerful manifest-star!  I’ve always known that manifesting is amazing and that we all have the ability to manifest our desires with ease and grace, but this year has shown me just how powerful I am.  In the last 12 months, I’ve manifested 4 of my best months, $3K in 5 days, $3K in 24 hours and so much more.  It’s really not about the money as much as it’s about understanding that we all have the power to create my own reality instantly and the power lies within our thoughts.
  • My mindset practice is non-negotiable.  As I teach my clients what we think and believe is directly related to what we manifest in our reality and on the days when I skip my mindset practice…all hell breaks loose.  My mindset practice is my anchor.  It’s all about building new beliefs and visualizing the future I am creating everyday and it’s imperative that I take that time for myself.  If you don’t already have a mindset practice, I highly recommend creating one asap.  It’s the most valuable tool I use.
  • There’s never just ONE way. We live in a world of infinite possibilities.  For a long time I tried to do the things that the ‘successful’ coaches and entrepreneurs were doing because obviously it worked for them, but after trying things and not getting the results, I realized there are so many other ways of doing things.  My way will always be more fun, in alignment with who I am and who I serve and that’s what matters anyway.  As long as I do what I love and keep moving forward.  It’s always going to work out.
  • It can always be easy…so let it be.   I often have a tendency to make things more difficult than they need to be and this year I’ve learned that everything can truly be easy…if I allow them to be.  By simply letting go and allowing things to unfold with faith and trust, I’ve seen miraculous things happen from helping amazing women all over the world to finding simple solutions to some of my biggest challenges.  And I’ve learned that if it starts to feel a bit hard or I’m ‘efforting’ too much, it’s time for a break.

I am deeply grateful for the lessons of 2015 and am looking forward to the insights and wonders that are awaiting me in 2016.

P.S. I have just a few more spots left to help women like you Break Free From Stuck and if you are ready to start 2016 with passion, purpose, and SOUL then schedule your FREE 30-Minute Consultation below and let’s chat.
