3 Key Pieces that Make or Break Your Desires

Mindset is everything when it comes to anything, but what does that mean in real life?

What are the key pieces you should be focused on? 

When you boil it all down, mindset (and all the reasons we do the mindset work) is really about learning how to do these 3 things.

Believe me when I say they are “simple” concepts, but in the grand scheme of our daily lives, they are anything but “easy”.  I’ve learned (and re-learned, and practice, and learned again) all of them the hard way.  I know what life feels like when I don’t do them and how much easier it can be when I do.

I wanted to share these three things with you today because it seems we are all struggling a bit with them at the moment.  Even those of us who have learned and re-learned them.  So, if you are finding yourself struggling with your mind gremlins and doubt is creeping in…this is for you.

There are 3 things that will literally make or break your ability to manifest and live your best life.

Belief.
Trust.
Surrender. 

On the surface, we all know we “need” to do those things in order to create with more ease, but for most people the question becomes…what does that look like on a day-to-day basis?

Belief:

You must on some level believe that you have the power to create your own reality.  You may not believe that 100% of the time…all the time (because we are all human), however it is something that, with practice, grows over time.

You must also practice planting new beliefs specific to your desires on a consistent basis.  You may not believe that you can be a successful business owner yet, but if you keep practicing those beliefs and you do it consistently, you will eventually develop an automatic belief that you can.

The beauty of belief is that it doesn’t take much for you to own a belief and see it manifested in your reality.  The challenge comes when we get hit with “reality” that may look different compared to our beliefs.

For many people that “reality” is enough to allow doubt to creep in and the delicate belief that has been planted wobbles a bit.  But, like a newly created muscle, it takes very little time to come back to life with a bit of focus and practice.

Trust: 

Trust is something else that is not developed overnight.  It takes practice to learn to trust the Universe and our journey in it.  In some cases it’s more about deciding to trust the entire process versus learning “how” to do that.

From my experience, this is something you either do or don’t.  You trust that everything is working for you or you don’t.  You trust that everything happens for a reason, or you don’t.  With trust, there is very little room for gray areas.

And because trust typically goes hand-in-hand with faith, it’s about trusting in something that you often can’t see.  In fact, it is in the trusting that seeing is eventually born.  The key is to practice it and affirm it.

Practice affirming that you DO trust yourself, your inner being, and the Universe.  Affirm that you believe everything is working out for you no matter what your “reality” shows you and you will soon see how powerful trust is.

Surrender: 

Essentially what we are talking about here is letting go of our perceived control.  As human beings, we often believe we can (and do) control everything that happens to us and around us.  We think if we worry, analyze, think, and strategize enough we can avoid potentially negative experiences when in fact what we are doing is creating those negative feelings ourselves.

The key to surrendering really lies in the first two…belief and trust.  If you believe you have the power to create your own reality AND you trust that everything is working out for you no matter what you see, then you know you don’t have to worry.

You can relinquish your “control” and focus on the only thing you truly have control over anyway…your thoughts.  This is always where your power lies…right here, right now, in the present moment.

I also want to note that you are not required to surrender your DESIRE, but instead, surrender the HOW.  Hold strong to your desires, trust the process and leave the “how” up to the Universe.  As you do that, you will be inspired to take action and you will most certainly begin to prove to yourself just how powerful you are using these 3 concepts.

Which of these concepts do you struggle with the most?

In theory these concepts make sense and are relatively “easy”, but when we put it into practice, it often feels quite difficult.  The key (as always) is to practice, practice, practice and if you find that your beliefs are particularly difficult to move through, reach out for some support.

With practice, there will be days when you are total in the flow and days when you feel completely disconnected from it, but if you stick with it, I promise life will get better and better and better.  Trust me!

97 Days left…what will you do with them?

97 Days left in 2018! What will you do with them?

As of today we have officially 97 days left of 2018!! I can hardly believe how quickly the year has flown by, but here we are.

The past 9 months have been a bit of a whirlwind of activity, travel, frustrations, joys, big goals, steady progress, and so much more.

There have been months when I felt like I was lacking all motivation and months when I couldn’t be more proud of all that I had experienced.  But as we approach the final 97 days of 2018 I feel like I’ve gotten a second wind.

Instead of settling down for the holiday season, I’m feeling just as inspired as if it were January 1st.  I’m pumped up and ready to rock out the rest of 2018 in a state of flow, abundance, inspiration, service, and so much more and as crazy as it might sound, I’m wondering if it’s just me.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately (one of my intentions for this year) and have been reading a great book called A Happy Pocket Full of Money (go grab it if you haven’t read it) and in it there was a discussion about goals and intentions and how many the average person has.

 
How many goals/intentions do you have for yourself right now? 

 

I ask because the author suggests having at least 100 goals (on average) that you want to achieve in the next 30 years.  If one of your desires is to be very wealthy they suggest at least 5,000.

Now, I’m not a stickler when it comes to statistics, however the argument is, the more goals you have the more you will achieve (and you will achieve them relatively faster than if you didn’t have them.) .

The author goes on to discuss the importance of writing down your goals and reading through them or visualizing them consistently, which brings me to my next question for you.

Do you have your goals written down? And do you review them regularly?

 

As you may know I am a goal-getter by nature and I routinely write down my goals for the year, month, and often the week ahead, but I’ve never sat down and created a full list of hundreds or thousands.  To be honest, the idea of writing down thousands is a bit overwhelming.  But, I was inspired. 

I did a little (non-scientific) goals research and found that while some people in my circle set goals and write them down, most do not.  Interesting huh?

This also got me thinking about how often I hear people (many of which are my clients before we begin working together) saying how they look up and all of a sudden it’s 10, 20, or even 30 years later and they wonder why they haven’t experienced more of what they truly wanted.

My guess is that they just weren’t as intentional or focused on their desires as much as they were focused on what they felt they “had” to do.  Sprinkle in some mindset madness & limiting beliefs (that we all have) and you have a perfect formula for life passing you by.

 

The truth is the next 97 days are going to pass on by anyway but my question for you is…

HOW do you want them to FEEL? 

What do you want to experience???

 

In the next 97 days…

• What will you choose to focus on?
• How will you choose to show up in the world?
• How will you choose to use your time?
• What will you choose to experience? 
• What will you choose to achieve?
• What habits will you choose to create?
• What old things will you choose to shed?
• What new beliefs will you choose to plant in your subconscious?

How you answer (and act on) the questions will determine what you experience in the next 97 days.  The power is yours and yours alone.

Before I move any further I want to make sure you know this is NOT a challenge for you to DO as much as you can in the next 97 days and drive yourself crazy…what I said about the old way not working anymore still stands. However, the NEW way also means you have to be clear on what it is you DESIRE.  Not the ‘how’, but the ‘what’.

How to make the most out of the next 97 days…

1.  Spend some time thinking about the next 3 months and how you want to feel through the end of the year.

2. Write down the intentions/goals that come to mind that you’d like to experience in the next 100 days.

3. Get quiet and see if you can feel into any specific first steps for the intentions you’ve set.

4. Take those actions.

5. Revisit your goals/intentions list daily or a few times a week.

6. Repeat steps 3-6.

PSA:  The OLD way is no longer working, but (the good news is) this is…

If you’ve been experiencing some particularly challenging times, listen up…this message is for YOU.

We are living in a time period where things are shifting dramatically on both the energetic and spiritual planes. The way we see things in our world is changing as is the way we are living our everyday lives and for many people that means the OLD ways just don’t work anymore.

For example, let’s say 10 years ago you had a big goal you wanted to achieve…  

You set your eye on the prize and did what most of us have been taught and you created a plan.  You looked at the most logical way of achieving your goal from where you were and you began executing the plan.  Your plan likely included working hard, pushing forward, doing things you didn’t want to do because you knew you had to in order to get to where you wanted to be.  Eventually after all the blood, sweat, and tears you made it.  You attained your goal and proved that hard work–works.

This my friends is an illustration of the OLD way of doing things.

The OLD way:  Generally comes from a more masculine feeling place of pushing, forcing, and “making” things happen.  It’s about planning, strategizing, and controlling the ‘how’ because come hell or high water you are going to get there.  It wears the blood, sweat, and tears mentality like a medallion of honor in that the harder you work, the longer it takes, and the more you put into the journey, the more impressive the achievement.  This is the workaholic-work your fingers to the bone-I’ll sleep when I’m dead way of doing things, which is quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Early on in my business, I tried this way of doing things.  I started my business and began doing “all the things” everyone was telling me I HAD to do to succeed.

I was offering free sessions to everyone I met and spent 12+ hour days trying to make this business work.  I struggled big time for the first 2 years because I thought that’s what I had to do to eventually succeed.  It wasn’t until I started getting a glimpse of the new way and how it worked that things shifted.

The NEW way:  This is more a way of ‘being’ than a way of ‘doing’ things.  It comes from a more feminine energy of receiving, allowing, and opening up.  It’s about FEELING your way forward and surrendering the ‘how’ while trusting completely that the intention, goals, and desires are manifesting now.

The new way is about consistency in our thoughts, faith in our actions, and trusting ourselves (and the Universe) enough to relinquish any control we think we need in order to manifest our desires.  This is the more intuitive approach to manifesting that requires us to develop a deeper connection to ourselves and take action we feel inspired to take versus just doing things we feel we ‘have’ to do.  When embraced fully, this way of being helps us manifest our desires much faster than the old way ever could.

For many people, the NEW way is uncomfortable, difficult, and hard to believe.  If you are a fellow recovering control freak like myself, this way of doing things can be particularly challenging as it requires you to surrender and trust that everything is working out for you, even when you can’t see it.

 

PSA: Like anything, the NEW way takes practice.

 

The truth is, your inner being KNOWS this is how things work, but your mind will often get in the way.

It will tell you that the last time you…  

–> Hit your $5000/month goal, you wrote 3 articles and booked 5 new clients and that’s all you have to do in order to make it happen again.

–> Lost 20lbs, you did 2 workouts per day for a month and hired a nutritionist to customize a meal plan for you and that’s all you have to do in order to make it happen again.

–> Sold your house, you hired the best realtor in town and had to wait 6 months for it to sell and that’s all you have to do in order to make it happen again.

BUT….I assure you, there is a better, easier, more fun, fluid, and adventurous way.

YOU are not here to repeat history.

YOU are not here to be a robot doing the same thing day in and day out.

Where’s the fun in that anyways?

–> YOU are here to consistently and constantly grow, evolve, and become more of who you really are.

–> YOU are here to expand your consciousness, achieve your desires, and enjoy this new way of being.

–> YOU are here to experience life and ENJOY it!

–> YOU are here to BE, HAVE, and DO all that you desire and I can tell you with full confidence that the OLD way of doing things will not deliver that to you.

So, you have 2 options the way I see it:

1.  Keep doing things the old way and only achieve a handful of your desires.
2. Or try something new and lean into your potential as you achieve far more than you ever thought possible with more ease, grace, and growth than ever before.

As I always say, the choice is always yours to make. 

I made the choice about 2 years into my business to try this new way and while I’ve had some lapses in memory where I’ve fallen into my old ways, I know that this new way is 100% better and it’s what I’m teaching every single one of my clients.

Times are changing and I know there are a lot of you who may be disappointed in where you are right now.  You’ve put in the “work”, done things the way you always have but you’re still not seeing the results.

Consider this your invitation to try another way…the new way.  It takes practice, but I promise it works.  Get quite, tune in, feel your way forward and repeat.  It really is that simple.

Believe me, if I can do it with my control-freakish ways, you can too!

Manifesting Tip: Playing both ends to the middle.

When it comes to manifesting, this concept changed everything for me.

For me it was no longer about trying to just “trust” and then receive all I wanted.

I’m an action person so this tip made all the difference in the world. I hope it helps you too!

To Act or Not Act?

To Act or Not Act…that is the question!

When I first started learning all about manifesting, I often found myself struggling to understand when and if I was supposed to take action.  I mean, the movie The Secret focused so much on asking, believing and receiving that I was confused about what exactly I should be doing.

Here’s what I learned…

Inspired action is key.

To be honest, there are lots of things to remember when it comes to manifesting with ease, but this one is particularly important.

Inspired action is essentially acting on the thoughts and ideas that pop into your mind even (and especially) when they don’t make much sense or seem connected to what you are trying to manifest.  In fact, MOST of the time, the ideas that pop up for me don’t make traditional “sense” and at the time I can’t see how they might be connected to anything I’m manifesting.

The Universe likes speed so when you get an idea for something…(for me it’s often a program idea, video topic, or some other seemingly “random” thought) it’s important for you to act on it as quickly as possible.

Remember, the Universe operates using the path of least resistance and while we can’t always see the path laid out before us or how this particular action might connect to our desires, the Universe has a plan and is supporting always us through our ideas.

What most people do (before they understand this concept) is think about, analyze, wonder, and worry about the action they feel inspired to take.  They weigh their options and ultimately allow the energy of that idea to fizzle out before they take action (if they take action at all).

Has that ever happened to you? 

Have you ever gotten a seemingly random idea for something and you question it, discount it, or analyze the heck out of it?

If so, you are not alone. Listen, I’ve talked myself out of a ton of ideas that came to me because they just didn’t make any sense at the time.

 In fact, just recently I’ve found myself potentially falling back into that space with an idea that just won’t go away! (I’ll share more on that in just a moment.)

Over the years, I’ve had some incredibly magical moments unfold just by following my inspiration and taking action even when it didn’t quite “make sense”.  Every time I followed the feeling, the nudge, and the inkling and I have never been disappointed.  If you learn to follow your nudges and ideas, I promise you won’t be disappointed either.

When was the last time you felt inspired or called to do something that maybe you weren’t quite sure about?

While most of us think of “inspiration” as a huge lightbulb moment or a lightening strike, it often doesn’t feel like that at all. 

In my experience, inspiration often floats in seemingly quietly and if you don’t catch it, it has a tendency to move on its way.  There are times however, when the thought comes back over and over and over again.

Inspiration is awesome, but if you don’t act on it, it’s nothing more than a seemingly random thought that could be the difference between manifesting what you want or not.

Recently I was hit with one of those relentless ideas that at the time just didn’t quite make sense.  In fact, in some ways it seemed a little “crazy” to me because it’s never been something I’ve thought about before.  But alas, the thought wouldn’t leave, so today I’m acting on it.

Inspired Action Made Me Do It

Over the past several months I’ve been focusing on getting healthy and developing a regular workout routine not only for my body, but for my mind as well.  I know that when I commit to a routine I feel 100% better and I tend to be happier, more at peace and more productive in my business so it’s a win all the way around.

I’ve talked a little bit about this on Facebook and in a few emails to you, but recently I’ve felt called to share more of my journey.  I’ve felt inspired to talk a bit more about the mind/body connection, how mindset plays a role in our health and wellness and how and the challenges I’ve had at staying consistent on this journey.

So…after lots of back and forth and wondering if this is something I “should” be doing or not, I’ve decided I’m going to follow the thought and do it, but I’ll only be sharing this journey with those of you who are explicitly interested in my health and fitness journey. 

My plan is to send one email per week with some of the tips, tools, and strategies I am using to stick to my routine and overcome the mindset challenges that often come with keeping your health and fitness on track.  I’m not 100% sure where it will go from there, but I’m excited to see where it leads.
