Mindset is….

Mindset…

You’ve heard me say it’s everything when it comes to anything you want to achieve in your life and that is absolutely true, but it’s so much more than that.

Mindset is the way you think about yourself and the world.  It’s the lens through which you view money, love, relationships, career, other people, and most of all YOU.  

Mindset is made up of the thoughts, feelings and beliefs that make up how you experience everything around you.  It’s a collection of memories that tell you what is safe and what is not. 

Mindset is the foundation that supports every action or reaction you have in life.  It tells you how to respond when you lose a job or get a flat tire. 

Mindset is the thing that gives meaning to each and every situation you experience in your life.  It’s how you rationalize or make sense of the world around you. 

Mindset is a habit of thinking that helps to create our current reality- good, bad or indifferent.
 

Most of us didn’t get to choose what we thought or believed about life, money, relationships, love, career, the world, etc.  Growing up we were all taught (aka programmed) to think in a variety of ways based on what we saw and heard from our parents and caregivers.  And while some of what we learned may be serving us as adults, most of those beliefs aren’t our own and have the potential to create challenges based on what we desire in our lives now. 


What you learned growing up isn’t your fault, but if you want to change the reality of your life, changing your mindset is your responsibility.

Your mindset is in your hands now and it’s up to you to decide which beliefs are working for you and which are not based on where you want to go. 

Mindset is NOT “positive thinking”… it’s a specific way of thinking that allows you to see life through a more empowered lens and opens up a whole world of opportunities that you never knew existed.  

Mindset is your point of attraction.  Everything you believe to be TRUE is true for you and you will validate each and every belief you have over and over again.

If you believe you don’t have enough money, you’ll unconsciously create circumstances that cause you to not have enough money.

If you believe bad things always happen after good things happen in your life, that is what you will experience.

If you believe you are unworthy of good things/love/success, you will experience situations that make you feel more of the same. 

If you believe you can’t make it as an artist/musician/entrepreneur, then you will prove that to yourself over and over again.

Every belief you have becomes validated in your reality…every belief.  


So, if you look at the various areas of your life and you don’t like what you are seeing and experiencing, it’s time to transform your mind!

Mindset is where EVERYTHING begins and it’s why I do the work that I do.  It’s why I am constantly talking about how important it is for YOU to “do the mindset work” through daily practice, tapping, and coaching support if you need it.  It’s THAT important.

So, now that you know what mindset is, what are you going to do about it? 

My suggestion is to look at each area of your life individually and see how you feel about it. 

How happy are you with your love life, finances, career, passions, self-identity, health etc.?  Chances are there are some areas that feel stuck and stagnant and could use a refresh or complete overhaul.  Start your mindset work there. 

Here are a few things you can do to get started:
• Be aware of the thoughts/beliefs you have about that area of your life.
• Read a book on transforming your mindset and do the exercises in it!
• Commit to a daily mindset practice to plan new beliefs.
• Try EFT tapping for the particularly difficult beliefs you want to shift.

The season of MORE…

I am so excited April is finally here!  Spring is in the air and it feels like we are finally ready to get on with all those intentions we set at the beginning of the year.

I don’t know about you, but the last few months have been interesting.  With a ton of stops and starts, delays, weird energy and a general lack of progress forward, it’s been hard to stay focused on moving our intentions forward.  I

f you haven’t seen as much progress as you’d like in 2019 so far, don’t worry you are not alone.

The last week or so I’ve been feeling a distinct shift in my overall energy and focus.  Feeling called to re-read some of my past personal development books, I can tell things are shifting in a big way because…


We are entering into the season of MORE…

MORE light.
MORE energy.
MORE clarity.
MORE focus.
MORE intentions & desires.

And hopefully more action as well. <–-That last part however is up to YOU.

This is the season for clearing out the old and making way for the new.  It’s the time of renewal, growth, momentum, and making BIG moves toward the life you truly desire. 

I believe this is the time of year when many people start to get restless in their lives, wondering when and if it will ever change. 

They feel the call in their soul to do something different, take the risk, do the THING, but then they let their mind override their desires because it’s not safe, certain, or secure.

So instead of diving in and using the vibrant energy of the season to do all the things they’ve always wanted, they settle…and wait…and settle some more. 

Sound familiar?  If so, keep reading.


Here is what I know to be true even if I don’t know YOU personally…

YOU were not created to live a lukewarm life. YOU were not created to pay bills and die. YOU were not created for struggle and strife.

YOU were created for SO.MUCH.MORE.


–> Those dreams in your heart are there so you can FULFILL them.
–>The desires in your mind that you think are just “pipe dreams” are actually a visualization of what you are CAPABLE of!
–> Those visions of what you’d do “if only” are the very things you are CALLED to do.

And honestly, the only thing that is getting in the way is you, your mind, and your doubts..  

TRUTHBOMB: If you desire it, you also have the potential to fulfill it! 


You don’t have to know “how” right now, but you do have to be willing to see and experience another way of being and train your MIND to see the possibilities.  Not only that, but you need to DECIDE you’re ready for more and quit settling.

  
Your only true obstacle is YOU.

So, my question is what are you going to do about it?

Are you going to… choose to use the energy of the season to make the moves in your life you’ve been waiting to make or are you going to continue to wait and see how it goes?
Are you going to… do the work to grow your mind and get out of your own way or are you going to choose to stay where you are?

The choice is always yours, but for those of you who are SICK and TIRED of living a lukewarm life, now is your time to transform.

Yes, you can always choose to move forward at a later date, but really? Why wait?

Food For Thought: Where are you going?

This week I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about goal setting and intentions- more specifically my lack of consistency with the goals and intentions I set at the beginning of the year. 

(Life has thrown some curve balls in the form of crazy schedules, illness, snow delays and the like that have made it a bit difficult to keep the momentum going.)

With everything going on many of the habits that keep me on track have fallen by the wayside leaving me a bit aimless.  I mean, sure I’ve been doing some mindset work and meeting with clients, but I haven’t been keeping up with the things that are going to ultimately move me forward and get me where I want to be this year.  

In fact I had a moment this week when I asked myself…Lamisha, what the hell are you doing??

One of my clients described it perfectly when he said he felt like a drifter.  That’s it!!

 
When you are moving through life, just going through the motions with no focus, no endgame, nothing that you are working toward, you often end up being a bit of a drifter.

As an entrepreneur, I’ve always felt more grounded with the consistent habits of setting weekly/monthly goals, creating daily task lists, and keeping the momentum moving forward and it’s not for the reasons you may think. 

Sure, all of those things may help me to achieve my goals, but more importantly they put me in the VIBRATION to be inspired to do the things that will help me achieve my goals. I’m talkin’ energy baby!

Doing those things consistently keeps me inspired, motivated, excited, and brimming with ideas for new projects, articles, programs, etc.  And when I’m not doing those things…well I often feel a bit flat.

So, why am I sharing all of this with you?  

I’m sharing it because I know there are some (likely many) of you who are also drifting through life at the moment. 

You’re likely getting up and going to work, doing all the necessary things you need to do to get by, but you don’t really have an aim…a focus…a goal that gets you excited in the morning. 

You’re going with the flow and seeing where it takes you. (And listen, there’s no shame in that if that’s what you really want.)

But, for those of you who desire more I ask:

Where are you going?

And when I ask that what I’m really asking is what are you currently working toward? 

How are you expanding?

What are your goals/intentions and better yet…are you moving toward them?

If your answer is…”I don’t know.” then my friend, you have some work to do and I encourage you to begin by asking yourself what you want out of life (or maybe start with just this year).

Once you have some things on your list, it’s time to commit to making them happen. 
 
The truth is MOST people have things they may “want” to do, but very few of things that they are “committed” to doing (and believe me there is a huge difference between the two). 

Which category do you fall into?  

I believe we all have the ability to be, have, and do whatever we choose, but we first must have some idea of where we are going.  
 
And I’ll tell you a little secret:  When you set your intentions & commit to the journey, the Universe sprinkles your path with more magic and miracles to make it even better. 
 
I promise, you don’t want to wake up in 20-30 years only to realize you’ve been drifting through life when you’ve always wanted more.  It’s time to create what you desire and there is no better time than now.

When it all falls apart…

A few weeks ago on my Facebook page, I asked my community to post a GIF that illustrates how they feel about the past week and let me tell you, there are a LOT of people who feel a bit like everything is falling apart. 

If you have felt like this over the last few weeks 1) you are not alone, 2) this message is for you.  

I don’t have to tell you that life isn’t always rainbows and unicorns.   I think we have all lived long enough to know that there are times (sometimes days, weeks, and months) where life takes a turn and it seems like everything is crashing down around us.  And because I have been there many, Many, MANY times before I want to share with you a few tips and things to remember if/when you are in this space.

Here are my top tips for when life looks and feels like a dumpster fire…
 
1.  Honor how you feel.  When life feels out of control there are often loads of feelings that come along with it.  You might feel like you’re failing, not good enough, broken, confused, or just down right sad that things unfolding the way they are.  Honor those feelings and give yourself some time to process them…BUT (and it’s a big one), don’t stay stuck there. 

Also know that feelings often come in cycles so you may cycle back through the emotions every now and again.  It’s all good. (Journaling, EFT, forgiveness, or some good old self-care are all good options to process through the emotions.)

2. Get back to neutral.  One of the things I see people struggle with a lot is trying to jump from a really difficult situation to living in the land of rainbows and unicorns.  That kind of leap is just too hard to make which is why I suggest trying to get to neutral first. 

Do something that will shift your focus away from fixing, analyzing, or worrying about your current situation.  For me that is usually some random project around the house like cleaning out a closet, the garage, or laundry.  Taking a nap, working out, or listening to music is helpful as well.  The key is to shift your attention to something, anything that will take your mind off your worries. Sounds crazy simple, but it works. 

3. Expect things to change for the better.  When things are falling apart and they have been for awhile it can be easy to assume things are always going to be that way.  After so many disappointments it’s easy to give up hope that things will improve, but it’s imperative that you start expecting things to get better even before they do. 

Your belief is the catalyst that starts allowing things to transform and change.  Remember, you aren’t responsible for ‘how’ it will get better, you just have to trust that it will.  Change begins with your belief.

4. Look beyond what you see.  While it may seem like things are falling apart before your very eyes, remember that we can’t always see what is going on behind the energetic veil.  The very reason you are going through the current struggle is because you are up-leveling your life in some way. 

When you know that, you not only can shift your thinking much faster, but you begin to look beyond the “reality” in front of you and start focusing on what you choose to believe.  Envision the abundance, healing, solutions, support, love, compassion etc. that you are seeking and let that be your focus.  

5. Look for signs.  One of the things I learned at a time when I was completely broke (and ready to throw in the towel with this business thing) was to look for the signs that things were looking up.  Everyday I went on a scavenger hunt to find signs that showed me what I desired was on the way to me.  Sometimes I found pennies on the ground, received a cup of free coffee, or heard an inspiring song on the radio.  But with each new sign, I felt like things were looking up and soon I started seeing the actual changes and manifestations I wanted. 

The last thing I would add to this is of course to DOUBLE DOWN on your MINDSET work.  The stuff works when you work it, so make sure you are working it!

Here’s what I know about times like this…

They are setting you up for something much bigger than you ever imagined and the falling apart phase doesn’t last.  Trust me, I’ve seen many of them!

Here’s what I know about YOU…

You are meant for more and this is not where your story ends.  You have the power to be, have, and do whatever you choose and this moment is simply a bump in the road that will help you build the momentum you need for where you are going.  

Never forget the magic and wonder you have within…ever.

A peak into my practice…

I often get questions about what should be included in a daily practice so I wanted to give you a sneak peak into my new and improved daily (mindset) practice.  I’ve decided it’s time to shake things up again and thought you might be interested in what I do, but more importantly why. 

Before I dive into my current practice, I want to remind you that I am a fan of simplicity and finding what works for you.  What I am doing may not work for you, so be sure to experiment a bit and find something that feels good for YOU. As you will see below I’ve added a few key pieces to my practice and so far it’s making a huge difference in how I feel. 


~Mind~

You hear me talk a lot about my mindset practice because well, mindset is everything when it comes to anything and I truly believe everyone needs a practice to keep them on track. 

Currently my mindset practice consists of:


• 10 Minutes of reading a personal development book
• 10 Minutes of meditation 
• 10-15 Minutes of journaling
• Reflecting on/writing down my goals 

WHY? 

The reading portion of my practice is simply to continue to learn new tools, strategies, and concepts that will help me grow and evolve.  Meditation helps me ground my energy and get into that high vibe place before I start my day. 

My journaling practice is the time I spend actively planting new beliefs that match my goals and intentions for my life.  Sometimes I double the time or add a session at night.  It really just depends on what I’m working on at the time.  The goal writing/reflection is a new thing I’m adding as a way for me to keep myself focused on what my intentions are for the moment.  (Truth be told, I’m still getting used to doing this consistently. )

~Body~

I’ve talked about this on and off for the last several months, but I’ve recently gotten back into taking better care of my body.  In the past I’ve not been the greatest at self-care, but I have really been making a conscious effort to change that and I already feel so much better.

What I’m doing:


• Drinking 16 oz fresh celery juice (almost) every morning
• Working out 20-30 minutes a day 6 days a week
• Listening to what my body needs (ex. sleeping, eating, water etc.)


WHY?

The celery juice thing is relatively new for me as I’ve only been doing this for a month or so.  I got started because I’d been following the Medical Medium on Instagram for awhile and something inside me kept tugging at me to try the celery juice practice.  If you’re interested in learning more about what it can do and why people are doing it, check out the Medical Medium for sure. 

Working out 20-30 minutes a day has been a game-changer for me and it has nothing to do with weight or how I look (although that transformation has been great).  I find that moving my body 20-30 minutes a day doubles as a body exercise and a mind exercise.  It’s a stress reliever, vibe lifter and it just pushes me to do things I didn’t think I could do.  I highly recommend it. 

~Space~

This is a relatively new focus for me and again, it’s a work in progress.  Toward the end of last year I had this urge to declutter my entire house, but with it being around the holidays I just didn’t have the time to do as much as I wanted.  So, I decided to create a monthly decluttering challenge for myself. 

What I’m doing:


• Each month I set a goal for the number of items I want to purge
• I am also looking at the specific Feng Shui areas within my home and office space to see how the energy within my home relates to those areas

WHY? 

Clutter clogs energy and I’m all about opening up the energy within my home so good things to flow.  I’m also learning a lot more about Feng Shui and a ton of great tips from my go-to expert and friend Esmeralda from Simply Refreshing: Feng Shui for Holistic Living who just so happens to be offering an amazing Home & Life Transformation Bootcamp in February that I know is going to be amazing!! Definitely check it out!

So, there you have it! A sneak peak into what I’m doing and why.  My hope is that it inspires you to create your own practice to help keep you focused, on track, and feeling great energetically because it’s ALL about the energy!
